Hello,
We realize that we are very late to express our deepest condolences, but we wanted to let your family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and several of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and hometown of Randy L. Newman US Marine Lance Corporal.

We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families and friends and others who support our mission.

We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.

Sincerely,

Another year and it still feels like yesterday when we were sitting beside each other in the chicken coup outside of Fallujah Iraq as you were healing from your IED attack. I see your smile and hear your voice easily. I am proud to have served with you and witness you exemplify your unselfish ways. Gone to soon and never forgotten. My heart is with the Newman family!

Hello Mrs Newman and family,

I am DI Sgt Ethan Duncan Arguello's mom. Ethan served with Randy in the 3rd LAR Wolfpack during the 2006 deployment to Iraq. He was a Lance Cpl then, now he's at Parris Island turning recruits into Marines.

I haven't posted before but I've kept you in my heart and my prayers these past years. Ethan holds him in high honor and will remember him always.
I read all their stories again this week. What a fine young man you raised.

Ethan suggested that I let you know I've mentioned Randy in a post to my blog. I also plan to put together another post with a brief biography of Randy and his fellow heroes between now and Memorial Day.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

Jerry, Ramona and the Newman Family,

It is hard to believe a year has passed since Randy, Adam and Chad left us. They all blessed our lives and that of so many others. We continue to pray for your family as life must continue with Randy. Although we never knew Randy, getting to know all of you has been very special. We treasure your friendship. I have heard stories and seen many pictures of Randy and the other Marines. They look like they were always having such a good time together- especially seeing Randy with Matt Carter – I just laugh when I seen them together. It looks like they always had fun.

Randy’s service and sacrifice will never be forgotten. We are so grateful for all he did for our nation. God bless all of you as you continue on without him, but how wonderful to know he is in the presence of God and that you will see him again.

Love and Prayers,

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

It has been almost six months since your death... I can recall our last phone conversation on August 4th...Your voice was sweet and your conversation talked of coming home soon. I am so sad you are not home with family, but so happy to know you are home...with God. I cry for us...who are still waiting to come home...we are all missing you. I look at your marine picture everyday and smile. Randy, how proud we are of all you have done for us. Thank You Randy. You are missed still...now and always...Love, your Aunt Jeri

“Paid in Full”
To Honor The Service of Fallen and Injured Marines

Marines through and through, they paid the price
Six thousand miles away, we live the life
For which they paid with their blood, spirits and bodies
We will never forget what they paid in full

We hope and we pray that somehow their loved ones find comfort
In God, in the flag, in the memory of their loved ones’ bravery
They’re gone now but we see them still…proud, strong, willing
Covering each other’s backs… courageous, moving forward

What kind of love did they have for us to be willing
To give it all for the Black, White, Jew, Christian, Muslim?
We don’t comprehend but we honor you now and forever
You are Our Marines…some living…some not
Forever in our hearts we will cherish your lives

Lives too short yet immortal they’ll be
Highest brotherhood of the Few, the Proud
They stand at attention, and we gaze with awe
Some know their names not, but our admiration for them
Flows limitless within us, between us

They sacrificed their limbs or their lives
Freedom still rings, a soft sound across the miles
It tolls slowly; all of creation takes note
Of the lives that were lost for people unknown

Out of sight but not lost; forever among us
The starched blues marching straight
Toward the place where we will meet them
Many years from now…how we loved them…
Well done beloved Brothers and Sisters…You’ve paid it in full
Always Faithful Marines, You Have Paid it in Full

Dear Ramona, Jerry, Danny, and Kenny. I would like to express my deepest sorrow and sympathy for all of you. I am a close friend of Jeri and Rich Newman and have known much about Randy without ever meeting him. He is a marine, boy, man of his honor. He chose to join the marines in hope of something. It is traggic that it had to end this way, but he will never be forgotten. He served our country well in his duties to us. I know personally that every member of your family loved him deeply. You have been in our thoughts and prayers since learning Randy was in the marines. You should be proud of your son, family, and friends as words can not speak how they reflect on the world. If you need anything feel free to contact me either by mail or phone and I will be there for you and your family.

Dear Jerry, Ramona, Danny and Kenny,

We want you to know that you are in our thoughts and prayers DAILY...Even though knowing the Newman Family for over 45 years...We never got the pleasure to meet Randy but from the letters you shared and the emotional response from your family and friends...it was completely apparent that Randy was such a honorable and good kid. You could hear how much pride and love he had for his family... all of his family including his Uncles, Aunts, Cousins and Friends.

Not often can someone attend a memorial service of someone that they had never met and get to walk away feeling like you knew him and it was so clear in Randy’s memorial... HE was the one that showed what kind of person he was...through his writings and phone calls and his lasting effect that he had on others… not just by what others said about him...

Jerry and Ramona I can not help but to point out what a wonderful job you both did at bringing up such a responsible and Godly son. It reflects throughout your whole family... You both give myself and others the hope and encouragement that one day our children will shine a light as bright as Randy's did. Any parent would hope that their child honors them even a half of what Randy honored you all. I know you guys are so proud of him...and at the same time be proud of yourself…you raised a son that you can be most proud of… and I want you know that the love and support your family gave to one another touched and affected my heart more than you'll ever know.

Our family is here for any of you when ever you need us...Please keep in touch and we hope to see you and your family more often…God bless and wrap his arms around you & yours in comfort...

We want to take the time to say “Thank you Randy and all of the soldiers for fighting and protecting our country with such honor and bravery, so that our kids can sleep safe tonight.” We thank you all for the courage and strength to do what you do...

(As you may not be aware Rick’s son-in-law, Cruz, is over there right now and we pray every minute of everyday for his safe return.)

To the Parents, Family and Friends of LCPL Randy Newman.

I am deeply saddened by your loss. My prayers go out to your family. My son is also with the 3rd LAR D CO. He was heartbroken over the loss of Randy. He said his only consolation was that he knew Randy would be in Heaven.

Randy and Ryan had developed a friendship in Iraq. I must tell you that Randy had made a great difference in my sons life. Randy helped my son rediscover his religious beliefs. Ryan had told me that Randy and him would have bible discussions when ever they had a chance.

For this I thank you for raising a fine young man. We will always keep Randy and your family in our prayers. May God Bless you all and ease your pain

Dear Ramona & Jerry, Dan & Ken

It's impossible to find words that can convey to you how deeply saddened we were to hear of Randy's death. Our hearts ache for you and the horrible loss you are experiencing. We didn't know Randy well, but we got to see him at various times as he was growing up - when he'd come to Boise to visit Joan & Terry...so we feel that we knew him.

What an amazing young man - so dedicated - and so committed to Jesus. We'll never know the answers to the whys - but we pray the Lord Jesus will hold you close and comfort you beyond anything imaginable. And may you know the peace that comes by knowing Randy is with Jesus - held in His arms!

Our son, Caleb is presently serving in Iraq in the Air Force, so Randy's untimely death came with great impact & meaning to us, knowing these young men (and women)give up so much to defend our freedom - and for some, like Randy, they pay the ultimate price...which is way too high. But we are forever indebted and grateful to him and the other troops who give their all.

Please know our prayers are with you daily, and we will lift you before the Lord for what only He can give you.

with our deepest sympathy,

My family and I are praying for you and your family during this difficult time. We send our deepest empathy as we lost our Marine on 11/30/05 in Fallujah. We are comforted to know that our Marines are serving their country with such honor and bravery. We are so proud of our Marines and all of our other service men and women for all that they have done and continue to do to keep us safe and to give us the freedom we have that so many take for granted.

They are true Heroes and need to always be remembered for their selflessness and sacrifice to better our world. We will forever be united in the loss of our heros. We are so sorry for your loss and hope our words will ease some of the pain, and maybe fill some of your emptiness.

To Randy's family and friends-

Yesterday, Today, Forever – Semper Fi - Marines!

Our sincerest gratitude for their bravery-

To the family of Randy

I am deeply sorry for your loss. Words are meaningless at this time.Words are the only way I can express to you the sorrow my husband and I feel. Randy is a true hero who sacrificed everything to give us a safer life. As an american I am truly inspired and forever thankful for someone like Randy. As a grieving mom who lost her only child in Mosul Iraq a few months ago I am devastated. I won't try and tell you how you must feel, but I have been in your shoes . There isn't any amount of thanks or appreciation that can take away the deep pain you have in your heart. Please allow God to comfort you and your family during these difficult times. We love you.

It is not easy for me to sign this guest book.WhenI heard the news about L Cpl Randy Lee Newman, my heart breaks . I started crying and shaking because he was on my prayer list everyday six times a day offering God a rose for them to come back home safe to their families. No words will ever express the grief that we all have . We lost our eldest son Sgt Christian B Williams last July 29, & finally put him to rest with God.They were all in one Co with Randy, Chad, Galvez & so on.We pray that God wraps His arms around you to comfort you during this time of sadness. We pray that you have the love & prayers surrounding you. I believe our boys are the true American Heroes. They will always be remembered as one.May God ease your sorrow at this time of pain and may it give you strenght to know that in the house of the Lord there is always a place for our loved one's and that they will never be alone in the company of His Son. Just remember people who makes a difference. There are people in life so inspiring that others who know them-- like me- You look on from a distance and wonder, How utterly fearless can one person be? Their energy so astounding a warm spirit glow in their smile, they show the real meaning of kindness beyond the proverbial one extra mile. Truth is, they may not feel Heroic, yet their strength and their style are unique, and the rest of us wants to be like them... to try for the best in whatever we seek.Every once in a while we meet someone who really makes a difference. You're defenitely one of those people. And were grateful to know you. Our boys did it.In behalf of my husband Jack, my children family & friends we are sending you our deepest sympathy & a big sincere hugs from us. You are not alone . We are all in this. Just remember that God is so good , He will not make mistakes. Our condolences to you and the family especially to the mother of L Cpl Randy Lee Newman. May God keep you in His hands & comfort you. Jack was born in Eugene Oregon & has families there in your place.

To the Family of Lance Cpl. Randy L. Newman:

My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courgeous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life. We lost a son 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday.

I know first hand there are no words right now that will bring you the comfort and peace you need. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you mourn this loss. We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with. I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally, but none of these courageous men and women will be forgotten. They will never be able to be replaced, but sometime, someday your loving memories will help to sustain you. This courageous soldier will forever now be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well. To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is those wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever. If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero. God Bless this courageous soldier and family.

To the family of Lance Cpl Randy Newman;

He knows our thoughts, our words, our deeds each hour of the day. He never fails to listen as we kneel to Him and pray.

And even when you often feel your prayers are all in vain, my friend, be still and listen, you can hear Him call your name.

He will comfort you in trials, console you when you're blue; You'll never walk alone thru life, He's always there for you.

I'm sorry to hear of the loss of your loved one. May God comfort the family & friends and keep His loving arms around you.

God Bless,

Garnet Jenkins

Please know that I am deeply sorry to learn of the loss of this fine young Marine.

The price Lance Cpl. Randy L. Newman and his family paid for this country and our freedom, will never be forgotten.

May he Rest Safely in the Mighty Arms of God and may God's Loving Comfort and Grace be with the Newman family.

I am the sister of such a young hero, who made the Ultimate Sacrifice in Vietnam, many years ago.

Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and He shall sustain thee.

Psalm 55:22

With each new day, may the Lord restore your soul and, through His love, give you the strength to go on.

Softly and slowly....

Time heals...
