I never got the chance to meet Rebekah, but I know she was an amazing person. When i first heard her story i thought how strong Matt must be, but now i realize how strong she was. My boyfriend played with Matt at UL and knowing who he is shadows to me who she was. She was a beautiful person and touched the hearts of many people. I wish i could have been at the funeral, i heard it was amazing.
I have chopped my hair and donated it in memory of her.
She will continue to stay in my prayers as well as your family. God Bless.

Rebekah was a classmate of my daughter, Eleni. I had the pleasure of coaching her fifth grade basketball team. Even at that age you could tell that she was a special girl. She was mature beyond her years and really knew what was important in life. On behalf of my entire family, you have our heartfelt condolences.

Ray and I met you in San Antonio last weekend and were touched by your peace and joy and strength(that passes all understanding). What a wonderful witness you are. And although we never met Rebekah, just reading about her and seeing her picture gives us a little insight into what a wonderful person she was.

Dear Tauber Family,
I have been praying for Rebekah. I heard of her beautiful faith thru my my friend and my son who attends Second Baptist School. As the Aunt of a 15 year old nephew who has a terminal lung disease, I share the deep pain of seeing a loved one suffer wishing to take their place but knowing it is God's will not to know why but to rejoice in his love that binds us all together. As you know she is dancing in his beautiful light whole once more and gazing down sending her beautiful light to each one of you.

My husband was in the same Bible Study at Second Baptist as you. I had followed Rebekah's journey through this class. My husband lost his battle to cancer a year and a half ago. He always spoke of your strengh and faith. He amired how strong you were even when facing really tough times. You were an inspiration to him....I know Jeff was there to welcome Rebekah home.

I am one of the background physicians that followed Rebekah. As a head and neck radiologist reading her scans at M.D. Anderson, I am among the many who contributed to Rebekah's care without ever meeting her or her family.

It hardly seems possible. I remember moving from Houston with Kate and attending a Bible Study in you beautiful home when Rebekah was only 5 years old. David Jr. was a couple years older (if I recall correctly) and you had a darling puppy named “Bear” who Rebekah always held and cuddled. What a beautiful girl she grew into. I also recall Rebekah in 6th grade in Mrs. Johnson’s class and teaching a lesson in her room. Rebekah was one of the few students who stood out and asked heart-probing questions about creation and God –exhibiting deep thinking over and beyond other students of her age. She will missed by each of you – but always remembered in our hearts.

I did not know Rebekah but what a beautiful and pure life! See how she inspires people that she didn't even know - this is God's perfect miracle and what a powerful testimony she lived out here on earth. She is at peace and in no pain for that is what our Lord promises us - just imagine her first moments when she saw the Lord's face and fulfilled her destiny. I have tried to call Rebekah's prayer pager fairly regularly since my own son died of synovial sarcoma in 2001 at the age of 22. I was shocked to return from a Walk to Emmaus weekend to discover that Rebekah had died. I never met her, but she touched my life and I'm sure the lives of so many others who actually knew her were touched beyond measure. I know that her acts of goodness will continue to live for years and years in the memories of so many people. Sorrow is with us, but God's mercy comes anew in the morning. May His love be with you in a very tangible way in the weeks ahead.

I was reading the obituary on Sunday, and was sadden to hear of your huge loss of such an apparent angel! I did not know her, however, her presence was omni-present! We were in church at Second Baptist the day she so courageously stood up in front of thousands of people and offered to us her most breathtaking testimony and we were truly blessed for having heard it. I first heard of Rebekah's illness through my sons Robbie and Thomas who attended Second Baptist School with her. My heart mourns with the Tauber family and especially with Dave and Lynda. When I first became a parent, I felt God had opened my heart up to love in a way I never thought possible. With this also came a deep vulnerability as I could not control the details in my children's lives. Then the Lord gave me wisdom from His Word that set me free. Job 14:5 reads: Man's days are determined; you have decreed the number of his months
and have set limits he cannot exceed. NIV. In these words, I found understanding in the fact that even before we were born, God already knew how many days we would have. Those days are unlike any that the world defines for us because God alone gets to decide the kind of worship He desires from each of us. I pray this verse will bring healing and comfort to the Tauber family in knowing that Rebekah fulfilled her days on earth. In her suffering she offered God a holy sacrifice. More than that, her family and friends fulfilled their purpose in worshipping God with their prayers and ministry in Rebekah's life. Now we can rest in knowing Rebekah is in a perfect place with the God who created us and gave up His one and only son for us. May He comfort us as a parent who knows the suffering of letting go of a child for a season. And may we celebrate that the separation is only for a season and we will one day share eternity together!

I've only just "met" Rebekah this week. My daughter, a childhood friend of Jared and Jacy Burrell, discovered the Facebook group dedicated to praying for Rebekah. She shared the info with me. We just began praying for Rebekah and looked forward to paging her regularly. When I called friends back in Houston to get more info, I learned that Rebekah had died the night before. I'm thankful she touched our lives, if only for a brief moment. I hope that your family will continue to have the pager so that we can call to let you know that we're now praying for you.

Rebekah seemed to know something about our existance on this earth that the rest of us weren't able to tap into. She knew of a Peace that I can only wish to be able to comprehend in my life. Rebekah's pure joy forced us all to stop our busy lives, remember eternity versus our short lives, and re-focus our priorities to our original purpose- to deliver Christ's joy and freedom. In her short time on earth, her impact was significant in so many young and old lives. Tillery and Blair have such fun and inspired memories of Rebekah from kindergarten through high school. To the Tauber Family,
Tho' we do not know each other I am compelled to express my sincere condolences on the passing of your precious daughter, Rebekah.
The loss of a child is the greatest loss of all. Our prayers and thoughts are with you and yours.

To know and spend time with Rebekah was to know and spend time with the Lord, the two were so tightly intertwined. My heart selfishly grieves to know she is gone, but I am so grateful for every moment I got to spend with her. She was blessed to have such a wonderful family and we all were blessed to have her.

Rebekah is a cherished friend of our son, Shaun. We greatly appreciate the kindness and friendship your entire family has shown to him. We have been greatly impressed with what a great person Rebakah is. Although she will be missed, we know that she is now in a wonderful place and is free from pain and suffering. We know that her loved ones who have gone before were waiting eagerly to greet her, and that she will do the same with all of her loved ones when it is time for them to depart this earthly life. We regret that we never got to meet her personally. Your family and friends are in our thoughts, hearts and prayers.

We are so very sorry for your loss. We are the parents of Eric Silverman, one of Rebekah's dear friends. We were fortunate enough to have met Rebekah a couple of times, and we were very impressed with how mature she was for such a young lady. Eric has told us about Rebekah's great strength, perseverance and positive attitude over the years as she fought her many battles. We can all learn from her. I only knew Rebekah through emails, photos and word of mouth, but I know that a special person has left us. Our family is deeply saddened by this loss and our prayers are now with Rebekah's family, as they were with her. We know she is in a better place. The courage and faith she showed and the impact she had on others is an example for us all to use the time we have to make a difference. Rebekah certainly did that.
