I can never thank "EMK and ALK" for introducing them to me .

As always, I am privileged to remember a Man, who had few equals in this life! His bawdy sense of humor and powerful command of language, made him a formidable foe, to anyone stupid enough to challenge his intelligence! Had Hans, been made the Secretary General of the UN the world may have been in better shape today! God Bless you Hans, and your family for allowing me to know you!

Hans, was a Man of extraordinary wit and charm! How, I regret having not been more attentive to him and Friedel, as I could well have used him as a role Model, at a point in my life, when I was a lonely ship adrift in a Sea of Snakes and Vipers.
The World is not a better place since his departure! I am however blessed by the few moments of his association with me! Blessings, to his family.

I will NEVER forget Hans or his dear wife Freidel . It was Hans who encouraged me to write my first book and INSIST that he purchase the first copy and that it be autographed . Freidal was absolutely lovely. A beautiful individual to be around. As a couple, they were so gracious....so genteel European in every way . I was proud to be their friend.

No finer man or mind existed, as was Hans A bitting wit and charm and a capacity for kindness without reservation. Such humanity is rare in men today, all to sadly to note. I was enriched to have had the brief privilege to meet him. My heartfelt blessings to Friedel and her children. In a lifetime only onece comes a man like Hans
In his passing he no doubt took a terrible secret entrusted to him by Empress Zita???

I only met Hans W. Janitschek once...on a jetblue flight from New York to Oakland. He was headed to California to interview Arnold Schwartzeneger! I will always cherish the memory of the inspiring conversation we had that day. It is not often that one meets someone who combines such intelligence, wisdom, kindness and depth. It was truly a privilege to be sitted next to him and enjoy his company for these few hours. I have thought of him a few times since then, and was so sad to discover he had passed as I googled his name today. My sympathy to his wife, children and friends who must all miss him dearly.

We met Hans 20 years ago in NY. He was a man of outstanding integrity as well as an inspiration to stand up for what is right. Without exaggeration, we witnessed him defend the defenseless, and stand steadfastly against injustice. He will be missed.
Our heartfelt condolences go to his family.

It is indeed rare in this age, or any age, for that matter, to come across a true scribe....one who sees a situation for what it really IS and is not afraid to say what has to be said or write what must be written in order for the progress of the human mind to continue throughout the ages. Hans embodied this greatness, tempered with extraordinary humility and humor, the vitality and courage of life itself.
Our love goes out Friedl, Anji and Stefan. Hans, we will miss your gracing our little upstate town.

Dear Didi,
I'm so sorry not to be able to reach you directly -or see you this afternoon at the memorial- to tell you how sad I am to hear about the sudden death of Hans.
He was a wonderful man and a very dear friend to Ernest and me. We had so many plans to continue to keep Ernest's name alive.
I wish you strength in these hard times and my heartfelt thoughts are with you.

I was deeply saddened by the news of death of Hans. I remember him during his tenure at UNFPA. He was always a wonderful colleague, full of knowledge which he willingly shared, great sense of humor and a consummate international civil servant. It was great pleasure working with him. I extend my deepest condolences to his family.

I remember Hans very well: witty and funny when we crossed on the floors of UN buildings or at many meetings during my 11 years in NY. A passionate intellectual and a lively journalist, he was truthful and always ready for wholehearted frank advice

Hans was my Godfather; he was a family friend for over 50 years; he was brilliant; he was helping me get my first book translated into German. I am totally shocked, stunned and devastated. My heart goes out to Didi, his wife. Didi, I wish you peace; I am here to help and support anyway I can.
