George and I attended the same church in Merrillville, IN. I was just a kid, but remember sitting on his lap at a wedding reception, and getting my whistle from him. He was so kind and very devout man. We made a point of seeing him at Disney later, and he was as lovely as ever. What a great human being!

I don't know why George came to mind today but while searching to see if I could find anything about him found the sad news of his passing. I am another one that worked with George at the Oscar Mayer Restaurant at Walt Disney World. He was such a pleasure to work with, always happy, always interested in how your world was, a delightful surprise for every guest that walked in the door, particularly the children. We spent many hours sharing his life and experiences and my hopes and dreams. Possibly my favorite person in my 25 year Disney career. He will be missed.

I have fond memories of "Little Oscar" as a child I met him at my fathers fire station. My dad was a Firefighter in Chicago during the 50's and 60's and George would stop by the fire station and hang out with the guys and even went on a fire call with them.
One day my dad asked George if my twin Walt and I could take him to our school for show and tell. George laughed and he sat us in the Weiner Mobile and they took us to school. George was the biggest hit that school ever had and so were we.
I tell that story to my grand children all the time.
Thanks for the memories and the whistle.

In the 60's Little Oscar would stop by the Condes Restaurant every Summer in the Weiner mobile. Myself and other siblings would take turns touring the Weiner mobile and getting the complimentary whistles.
In 2002 I had opened Condes Restaurant in Merrillville, In. and George surpised us one day with a visit. It was truly a "Blast from the Past" I just found today his traditional picture card he had signed for me in 2002. We will certainly miss you George. Thanks for the memories!

I am 50 and I remember Little Oscar, I am not sure if there were more than one Little Oscar but, I think he came to a shopping center in California when I was a child and it was a verey big deal for us to go and see the Wiener Mobile and Little Oscar. We were given Wiener Whistles and took pictures at the Weiner Mobile. These are good memories of a wonderful time in my life with my brothers and sisters and parents. Thanks for the memories Mr. Molchan we love you!

What a wonderful man he was! I worked at the Town Square Cafe in Disney World back in 1971 or 72 where George would greet guests and sit and talk with them as they ate their meals...of course serving only oscar mayer hotdogs as well as other delicious food. He was so kind to all the waitresses and the entire staff and knew us all by name! Never ever saw this great guy in a bad mood! I know he will be missed by many.

I attended the Oscar Mayer grade school here in Chicago in the early 60's with my younger sister and brother and fondly remember "Little Oscar"stopping by on a few occasions in the Weinermobile to give us the little whistles(which I still have!) My sister and I ran into him at Disneyland in 1976 and when we told him we were Mayer school alumni he treated us like we were long lost friends and posed for a picture with my sister Barb. What a sweet man! I will remember him always.

I can still see his smiling face stepping out of the weiner mobile in the late 1950's. He came to Aragon Avenue Elementary School in Cypress Park, California for a school function and it was a day that I still remember. I am 60 years old now, but seeing his picture brought back that special day and the little whistle he gave to each and every one of us. What a great human being for having the personality and the ability to create such happy memories!

Little Oscar and the Weinermobile visited our Little League Tournament in Oxnard, CA in the late 50s. It was an unforgetable day for any kids who were there. But I've been carrying some guilt ever since because of a crime that also occured that day.
The famous Weinermobile was parked unattended in front of Ansgar Larson Elementary as the baseball tournament was taking place on the school grounds. My friend and neighbor, Kenny, saw an open hatch on top of the Wienermobile and somehow managed to get through it and into the vehicle. He found a box full of weenie whistles inside, took them and later split the loot with me, a bystander until that point. For years afterwards I had a drawer full of weenie whistles but also a nagging conscience.
There, that's off my chest. Sorry George. Rest in peace.

30 years ago, my parents started taking me to Disney World for vacation. The fondest memories I have of those trips are the times I got to see "Little Oscar". Now, I'm getting ready to take my son on his first trip to Disney and it saddens me that I won't be able to give him the same wonderful memory that my parents gave me. Reading the many posts here only serves to reinforce what I knew at even a young age, that "Little Oscar" was a very special man.
Thank you for the memories Sir.

In the early sixties I met Little Oscar at Scripps Hospital in La Jolla, California. We were both patients there. It was real nice that he came to the rooms of the sick children and talked to them and gave them a whistle. I am now 49 years old, I no longer have the whistle, but I will never forget how cool it was to actually meet Little Oscar.

When living in Ross Township my nephews sold eggs house to house; "The Eriks Boys", and they have fond memories of the kind reception they received at the Molchan household. How sad that a younger person has not been honed to continue the legacy of "Little Oscar" so this generation of children could benefit from the warmth of a small human being. George cannot be replaced, but another "Little Oscar" would be welcomed by us all.
Our loss~~Heaven's gain. Condolences to all the family.

Dear Molchan family,
I was so sad to hear of the passing of George "Little Oscar". I worked with him at Town Square Cafe in Disney World back in the 70's. He was such a joy to work with. A supportive and joyful co-worker, we all loved him. The families that came into the restaurant loved him. Many families throughout the world are thrilled to have pictures, in their vacation albums, of them and George taken at DisneyWorld. He was very special. I will always think of him with a smile.
sincerely, Teresa

I was so surprise to read today of George's passing. I met him while working for Dean Foods doing promotions at Jewel Food Stores. It was my first job out of college and he reached out to me and made me feel so important. He was a "big" man on the scene who didn't act that way leaving a lifetime memory of someone who was very kind and special. He didn't just act that way to this kid but did to everyone he came in contact. I know that because I watched him and always remember how the little man was such gentle giant!
Sorry for your loss.

The Wisner family has been fortunate to know the Molchans for many decades. My cousin, Bernie Wisner, was married to Little Oscar's sister, Agnes. Mr. Elmer Molchan, (he will always be "Mr.") taught at Lew Wallace for years & years. How exciting it was as a child to tell everyone that I was related to Little Oscar!
He was an icon & will be terribly missed by generations who knew him & loved him.

I am 49 years old and have known Little Oscar personally my entire life.He was close friends with my parents (Harold and Thelma Fields), my brother (Michael Fields), my sister (Bonnie Fields), and my grandparents (Bess and George Katz).Little Oscar came to my brother's birthday party at our house when we were little and gave my brother a ride in the Weiner Mobile. The entire neighborhood was thrilled and shocked to see him pull up to our house in the Weiner Mobile on McKinley Street in Gary. I have it in my old home movies. Little Oscar came to my birthday party when I was 13. About 10 years ago my husband and I took Little Oscar out to dinner in Florida. I have several photos of the three of us together at Disney World that I will always cherish. Little Oscar was a wonderful person and we will miss him dearly.

I am a long-time fan and collector of Little Oscar and Weinermobile stuff. One of my treasures was given to me as a gift by my co-author Steve Cox. It's a picture of the original Oscar Mayer with Meinhardt Raabe, Jerry Maren, George Molchan and Joe White -- all four "Little Oscar's" signed it.
Steve and I covered "Little Oscar" history in depth in our book, "Cooking in Oz" loaded with pictures that Steve uncovered from their days on the Weinermobile.
Everybody loves Little Oscar and the Weinermobile, what a legacy for George and the others.

Dear Lillian, Susan, Agnes, Elmer & Alex:
My deepest condolences to all of you on the loss of your brother, once through being striken with Alzeihemer's and now with his passing. My heartfelt admiration to you for caring for him at home with such love and devotion.
We were blessed to know him in a small way as "LITTLE OSCAR", through his friendship my father, Vince Morgavan.
Your pastor exemplified his stature in my eyes even further, when he spoke of George and how he lived his faith. I remember seeing him in Orlando but never realizing he was instrumental in working with others to get a parish built there. Mother Theresa said 'not everyone can do great things, but everyone can do small things with great love'.
After hearing Father Evanik's words at the moving funeral mass, I know George did just that. He did small things with great love! Young and old alike gravitate to those who let God's light shine through them and George always had that twinkle in his eye!
May God bless you all and trust that
God is saying "George, welcome home good and faithful servant!

My grandfather, Stephen Klusovsky, grew up with "Little Oscar" and as a young child my mother and father took my sister and I to Disney World in Orland, Florida. Throughout many visits there we would always make a point to stop by and visit with "Little Oscar." I remember that we were always so excited to stop by and see him when we arrived at the park. To this day, we have kept the photos we took as young children with him. He always had a smile and a kind word for all of the children.
Now that I have my own child we've been going to Disney World again and I've often spoke of and thought about him.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to his friends and family members. It was truly an honor to have met him.

Growing up in Hammond and Munster, My brother Rick and I had the pleasure of meeting George A. "Little Oscar" Molchan at about the age of 6 or 7. I never will forget when he handed me a Wiener Whistle. A fond fond memory from a long time ago.
We used to beg our grandfather, and parents to take us to see "Little Oscar" when he made appearances at Goldblatt's, Joe Tittle, and other grocery stores in the Region. What I recall was that he always smiled and never treated the kids like they were intruding on his day or space.
