Alan A. Beaven, 48, of the Oakland, Calif., area, was an environmental lawyer known for working on high-profile clean-water cases. After spending several weeks at a bucolic spiritual retreat in the Catskills, he was on his way home to try one last case--a federal trial in Sacramento--before beginning a yearlong sabbatical, friends and colleagues said.

As long as we speak your name you will never be forgotten. Moe mai ra Alan, from a fellow Kiwi who never knew you but remembers your name......

A terrible loss ! He did a lot of good in the world

I met Alan Beaven in 1999-2001 (can´t recall exact year) at his request when he found a legal case I had been involved in and he wanted to talk to me about it. He was a very nice, unpretentious person and what I remember above all else from that brief crossing of paths was his love for his three children he expressed to me. That was the common ground we established early in the meeting, once I apologized for being a bit late and informed him it had to do with my son. He was instantly so...

I didn't know this man at all but i was given a assignment to do a report on someone from UA Flight 93 and i chose Alan Beaven bause he stood out to me and yet i did not know him hope he can rest in peace and be remembered

Remembering Alan on the 20th anniversary of 9/11...

I am a sophomore from Shanley High School in Fargo, North Dakota and I have been assigned to read about Alan Beaven. As I read I saw that he has a family who loved him very much and still miss him. He seemed to have lived a very good life. He also had seemed to be a very caring and love filled life. He will be missed very much and I will be praying for him and his family
