Friends thought flight attendants Jennifer and Kenneth Lewis were such a good match that they collectively referred to them as "Kennifer." Though the husband and wife team from Culpepper, Va. often worked separate flights, they were together on American Airlines Flight 77, planning to vacation when they reached Los Angeles.

Jennifer, 38, loved a good practical joke, shoes, horseback riding and her horse, which she named Poet. Ken, 49, a former ski instructor, was into hiking, climbing, golfing and was always by his wife's side during a horse show. They were introduced by another flight attendant at a party.

It was "a match made in heaven," said longtime friend Brent Payne, who owned the horse farm where Jennifer took riding lessons. "They were such a devoted couple. And as close as they were, I don't know how one could have dealt being without the other one," said Payne. "The families drew comfort in the fact that they were together (on the flights), protecting each other."

Not sure what to say?

Ken and Jennifer, I will never forget you both. Prayers that you two are enjoying an everlasting life together.. And, that your family has found peace knowing that you two are together for eternity.

What a terrible sad day for your friends and family. You and Jennifer will forever be in our thoughts and prayers.

it's 18 years later, but I will always remember Ken and Jenny Lewis, the husband and wife F/As who often flew together and died going into the Pentagon. As a former American Airlines gate agent at OHare, I had met Ken that summer because he often flew the flights at the gates I worked. Im so bad with names. One day, we had a maintenance delay on a flight. He was working First Class. I had recognized him from seeing him all summer, but didnt know his name. I made a point to look at his name...

May the lord bless Ken and his wife Jennifer.
