John Warnock Obituary

WARNOCK, JOHN T. (JACK) Jack Warnock passed away on November 13, 2008. He was 65. He was born in Albany, NY, on February 5, 1943, to Stanley and Alice (Derry) Warnock. He attended Christian Brothers Academy. He attended SUNY Cobleskill and the University of Buffalo. He received his degree from the University of Nebraska in 1971 after moving there with his job transfer. His career began with Aetna Casualty and Surety (now known as Travelers), starting in Aetna's Albany, NY office in 1967 before transferring to the Omaha offices in 1968. Jack and his family moved to San Diego in 1972. He started working with the Robert F. Driver Company as a broker. He steadily rose through the company. He managed the surety department for 20 years with an emphasis in the construction industry. He was one of the key members of the management team that purchased the company in 1998 that is now known as Alliant Insurance Services. He was a past president of the Surety Association of San Diego and was active in public relations efforts for the National Association of Surety Bond Producers (NASBP) and the Surety Information Office (SIO). Jack is survived by his wife, Pam, sons Dan (Kimberly) of Ramona, Ryan of San Diego and his mother, Alice Warnock, of Albany, NY, sister Pat Rafferty (Jim) of Ravenna, NY, his loving nieces and nephews, and two beautiful grandchildren, Skylar and Dylan, who always lit up when they saw "Papa Jack." He was preceded in death by his father Stanley and sister Mary. We will all miss Jack's generous, good heart. Mass will be held at San Rafael Catholic Church, 17252 Bernardo Center Drive, San Diego, CA 92128, at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, November 21st. Graveside Service at 1 p.m. at Dearborn Memorial Park.

To the Warnock family,
I was saddened to recently hear that Jack passed away. I was an 'upstart' female underwriter in San Diego back in the late 70's and did quite a bit of business with Jack. While we didn't always agree, he was fun (and challenging!) to work with! God bless your family.

Pat, Pam and Mrs. Warnock

My deepest condolences on the loss of Jack. I remember Mary and I were in summer school and Jack let her take his convertible to school. Needless to say we spent the whole afternoon driving up and down the avenue. I thought what a nice brother to let his sister take his car. I'm sure Jack is with his Dad and sister now remembering the good old days. Again, my deepest condolences.

Pat - I have fond early teen age year memories of the Warnock clan when your family resided on First Street and my family resided around the corner on Judson Street.

I will always remember your brother Jackie with a smile, sense of humor and twinkle in his eye.

My prayers and thoughts will be with Jack and his family in the days ahead.

May his memory always be a blessing.

To the Warnock family, I'm so sorry for your loss. I remember Jackie when growing up on Judson St, he was always a class act. Although he was 3 years older then me he always had time to say hi, which made me feel special. I will keep him in my thoughts and prayers. May the Good Lord give you strength, and comfort you in your time of sorrow.

To the Warnock family...

Jack was not only my classmate at CBA - but, he was actually in my homeroom for four years. Had to be the funniest kid in the class from Day One! You just never knew what he was going to come up with next! No question - he added a lot to my years at CBA. Great kid!

Wonderful, wonderful memories. A good friend that I have truly missed for many years.

Hard to express the shock and sadness that I feel this morning as I learn of Jack's passing.

My prayers and thoughts will be with Jack. I wish you all strength and comfort during this difficult time.

Warnock family,
I knew Jack when I was a golf pro at The Hodges Golf Center from 2001-2003. It's been a while, but I always remember him smiling and having a good laugh with his buddies at the range. I might not have known him well, but I knew he was a great man and one that loved his family. I know my friend Jason, who taught Jack, misses him too. My thoughts are with you.

Pam and family, I was saddened to hear the news of Jack's passing. He was outstanding in his support of me in the early 80s when I came to California to work for a local surety. We did alot of business together, and even when we disagreed in business, there was a mutual respect that drove our relationship. He will be missed for sure.

Pam & Family -- been a long time since I left San Diego (1979) but I have very fond memories of my time spent working for F & D, and doing business with the Driver bunch (Jack and Alex). Jack was instrumental in the success of my office. My condolences to you and your family.

The passing of Jack brings to the surface our assumption of an ongoing relationship, only to be jolted back to the present by the death of a friend.

Jack was a business friend and it started around 1974 when I opened the AIG office in San Francisco and contacted Jack for business. It continued from there.

My condolences go out to Pam and the Warnock family.

Hi Pam; Long time sorry to read about Jack. I recall when he and I went to NYC to visit a surety, oddly enough it was the AIG. Jack had a good size bond to write. Long story short we wrote the bond. His account picked up first class round trip American Air lines tickets. You may recall Jack came home with new eye glasses. We also went to the Cafe Pierre to listen to the Bucky Pizzarelli Trio. Bucky's trio was a favorite of Helen Copley, his son John is now a top performer. Pam, Liz and I would like to send you a Mass Card for Jack
