Arn Shein Obituary

SHEIN, ARN
Arn Shein, of San Diego, passed away June 1, 2007 at the age of 78. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Arn began a career as a sports writer in mid 1949, ultimately settling in Westchester County, NY, where he wrote for the Reporter Dispatch, and in 1955 became Sports Editor of the Port Chester Daily Item. Arn wrote his column "Spotlight on Sports" until he retired in 1974. He then became president and co-owner of Demar, a NY cheesecake company. In late 1977, he moved his family to San Diego and in 1984, he began a new career as a freelance writer and has been published close to 450 times in national magazines. In 1988, Arn chose to share his writing and selling skills with others and began teaching creative writing classes, which he continued to do until the time of his death. Arn always had a smile on his face and a story to tell, many of them about his loving family who survives him, including his wife of 56 years, MaryLou; his daughters Lindy Kaiser, Stacey Kay (Greg), and Kelli Masek (Bruce); his grandchildren Aaron, Shane (Kelly), Sean, Taylor, Grant, Gordon, Cameron, and Madison, as well as, his great-grandson, Tucker. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 16th, at 11:00 a.m. at Clairemont Covenant Church, 5255 Mt. Ararat Drive, San Diego 92111. arn, my good friend. i'am sadden to hear of your passing.marylou called to tell me. we had some great disscussions in the barber shop arn about everything. i'll miss you and your great humor. take care my friend, have a good trip and keep writing those wonderful stories

We are so sad to hear about Uncle Arn's passing. We will always remember his fantastic positive outlook on life, always had a smile on his face and was just a delight to be around. Our sympathies to Aunt Lou and the family. May all the wonderful memories he made help you through this difficult time.
