I always remember the first smell of pipe tobacco, I think it was cherry scented. He brought us kids squirrel tails from the hunt he had. I think he was my first witness of quiet patience. He didn't say alot..so when he did, I always perked up to hear him. I'm better for knowing him.

My fondest memory of Uncle Russ was a day we were all at Karen's house and just before gathering for a group picture, he wrapped his arm around my waist, looked right into my eyes and with a sweet smile told he loved me. It is a cherished and precious moment.

Russ was always very kind to me and I enjoyed any opportunity I had be spend time with him. Although I had not seen Russ or his family for some time, they were always in my thoughts and prayers, and will continue to be during this time.

Russ, I miss you,... your smiles, your humor, your tears, your love for Ruthie and your family. I miss you biking with me, walking, stoping by the house, your advice and wisdom, your open heart.
I came to see you almost every day in the hospital, we comunicated... without words.
You paid your dues. Would that there were more like you in this world. Humble, honest, brave.
Rest, rest, Finally. Rest. And thanks for being......in my life.

I would like to offer my deepest sympathies to the Sayre Family. It is painful to lose someone you love so much. However, God did not intend for humans to die. That is why he has provide the hope of a resurrection back to life. I know you look forward to seeing him again in perfect health. Take comfort in the hope found in the scriptures and draw close to God.

Russell was a fine man and I always enjoyed being with him. He was a very good fisherman. He will be missed by many friends. God Bless the entire family!
