Eugene Beach Obituary

BEACH, Eugene "Gene" H., 86, of Lutz, passed away November 14, 2006, just three days shy of his 87th birthday. Survivors include his loving wife, Dore Beach of Lutz; children, Michael Beach of Temple Terrace, Patricia Beach of Covington, La., Scott Beach and wife, Janet, of Panama City, Daryl Mattson and wife, Cheryl, of Temple Terrace, and Dana Emery and husband, Steve, of Wesley Chapel; and seven grandchildren. Gene was born in Battle Creek, Mich., and came to Florida as a young child. He received a degree in engineering from the University of Florida. During World War II, he served in the Air Force as a P-47 fighter pilot. After the war, he became an architect and practiced for more than 50 years, while simultaneously pursuing two other careers as an internationally known race car designer and as an artist. He studied painting under William Pachner and portraiture under Brooke Allison. His works have been exhibited on the west coast of Florida. The family will receive friends 11 a.m.-1 p.m. today (Thursday), November 16, at Blount and Curry Funeral Home, Carrollwood Chapel, 3207 W. Bearss Ave., Tampa. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gene's name to the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Research Institute, www.moffitt.org. An online guestbook may be found at www.blountcurry.com
