Dear Aunt Denise,

Kind of hard to type through my tears... but I'm trying my best. You were always so loving to me & the kids... taking them to the park, teaching them about nature, and of course... photography.
You let them watch tv in your room which was an OffLimits area to all else in the world. You made them feel special... and loved.
I was at your mums bedside last May when she passed, and my only solace was that she was on her way to be with you. Please kiss her for me.
The children and I miss you dearly, and I thank you for being my Guardian Angel... te quiero, Bella.

Love your niece,
Isis

Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and also let the Lannaman Family know that we recently sent Care Packages to American troops in the war zones. Each box carried a dedication sheet that includes the name, service information and a photo of your loved one. We recognize that this is a humble tribute, but we wanted you to know that it is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals in the youth hockey community and beyond. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you strong.
Sincerely,

I was on FB this evening and thought to type in Denise's name, to my shock I read that she had passed away in 2006. I knew Denise for approx 2yrs, which she came to London for month and we hanged out.

During that time I knew Denise, she was very principle, caring and sensitive beautiful woman and we spent fun times together.

No doubt Denise you have gone to a better place where you are free and continue your journey helping others.

One day I shall see you on the other side and we can reflect on the past.

What a shocker!!! I knew Denise because we went to the same school in Jamaica, and we were both boarded there.

She was my big sister at the boarding school.

I am truly saddened, as I happened upon this bit of information quite by accident!

God bless her family. May she find eternal rest and the peace that so eluded her in this life.

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

It has been one year and you are not forgotten, now or ever.

August 7, 2007

I don't pretend to know what to say or do that would bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON (KIA on 07/06/07) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

I served with SGT Lannaman back in 2004-2005 tour of Iraq.I was in one of the sister companys whom supported each other. Although, most of my memories come from Fort Dixs, NJ. She lived right across the hall from me...I remember her smiling face everyday, and I remember the interesting conversations with her. I always learned something new from SGT Lannaman, she would always find away to make me smile. I am deeply sorry for your losses, we all have truly lost someone special, but I know she will be with us all forever. She was a wonderful woman, and lets remember her as the TRUE AMERICAN HERO SHE IS!

I recently heard about Denises's passing and I was deeply upset. She was a colleague in another lifetime. She was dedicated and committed with a very big heart for whatever she did. She wanted to make the world a better place she wanted to make a difference. She was professional in her work and a loyal friend. When we parted, I wished for her peace of mind and an acceptance that would give her an ability to handle the injustices of life.
We can never tell the hour.
She has left wonderful memories and I shall miss her.

To Denise's Family and Friends,
My heartfelt sympathies to you.
I met Denise in Arifjan Kuwait through SGT Frisby while they were in between missions. I am deeply sorry for your loss. I know that Denise did a wonderful job with her unit and the Army National Guard. I would have been proud to have been her Senior Non Commissioned Officer In Charge (NCOIC) because she had what it took to be a Soldier. Even though I briefly knew her she was very well like among her peers.
As I have told all of the soldiers that I had met from her unit "You Are My Hereo!" I meant it then and I mean it now. Denise will always be My Hereo for all that she did during both of her tours.
I will Miss Her!
May God Bless SGT Denise Lannaman.

To Denise's Family:

I served with Denise in Iraq. I met her in September 2004, and she soon became one of my best friends. She loved all of you dearly. Not a day went by that she didn't verbally share concern and love for her mother, her sister, her nephews, and others. She was a great role model for me in her unselfishness and commitment. Please find some peace in knowing that you raised such a wonderful daughter, who touched many people's lives, and even tried to save those, especially the women and children, in another land she did not know. I will undoubtedly think about her and the example she set every day for the rest of my life. She became part of something bigger than her, bigger than all of us, but she gave it her best and she gave it her all. She is not alone, nor will she ever be.

Please view the tribute. These were from her camera, and were some of her favorite photos.

All my heartfelt sympathies to you,

To The Family and Friends of Sgt. Lannaman, our sincerest and heartfelt sympathies. We know words cannot comfort your grief at this time, but we pray that in time reading these words will give you comfort and possibly a smile when you see how many lives she touched.
My son and I met Sgt Lannaman in the DOL office where my husband worked. She was always so helpful and personable. We appreciate the help and support she gave us on one particular instance. We had a scare with strangers taking pictures outside our quarters and she was so reassuring. We appreciate her service and diligence to her job. We hurt for you and our prayers are for comfort and rememberance of those times when you smiled together. God Bless you and God Bless her soul.

My prayers go to the family and friends of Denise. I just learned of her loss 2 days ago. I came to the internet to read anything written about her. It seems so little. Denise was so much more. I was blessed to have served with her during OIFIII, B Co 50th MSB, 42nd ID.

Denise, I'll never forget our philosophical talks, our shared cigarettes and the books we swapped. I wrote you an email on 26 September. I'll never know if you got a chance to read it, but I pray now that you know how you helped change my perspective on our mission. One of our last conversations was about your choice to extend your service. I'll never forget the pride you had in your service over there, and your desire to continue all of the good works for a people that don't necessarily show their gratitude. You saw the bigger picture and knew personally the pain and sacrifice and knew it was worth it and were willing to continue. You compassion for the people of Iraq amazed me because by that time, I just wanted to go home. Your support, strength, and ability to put things in perspective have helped me more than you will ever know. I pray that you have found the peace you so deserve.

Our prayers and comdolences go out to the entire family of Sgt. Lannaman. It is because of the sacrifice she made, and that all our service people make every day, that we are able to enjoy and sustain the blessings of liberty for ourselves and our posterity. May G-d bless her and keep her in eternal peace.

October 7, 2006

To the Family of Sgt. denise A. Lannaman:
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courgeous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life. We lost a son (SFC Brent A. Adams) 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday.
I know first hand there are no words right now that will bring you the comfort and peace you need. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you mourn this loss. We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with. I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally, but none of these courageous men and women will be forgotten. They will never be able to be replaced, but sometime, someday your loving memories will help to sustain you. This courageous soldier will forever now be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well. To her family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss her, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by her presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is those wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever. If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero. God Bless this courageous soldier and family and God Bless legacy.com for setting up this site where families can so quickly share their condolences and prayers with others like themselves.
