Hello,
We realize that we are very late to express our deepest condolences, but we wanted to let your family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this holiday season and several of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and hometown of Branden F. Oberleitner US Army Private 1st Class.
We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families and friends and others who support our mission.
We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.
Sincerely,
Charlie Gili & Family

Couldn't sleep and so was taking a trip through my memories as I often do. I was trying to think of all the places I had slept in my life. I had worked my way all the way back to Worthington Ohio when I thought of my friend Branden F. Oberleitner, who I used to play with. I think we were about 9 years old at the time, my cousin Sam Duffie was living with us (Craig DeYoung and I as well as our parents Dave/Dorothy De Young). We were obsessed with Ninja Turtles, Skateboards, remote controlled cars, Legos and G.I. Joe. This was effectivly before video games were household items. We spent a lot of time at the park and across the street in a church parking lot. Wondering what ever happend to my friend and hoping he might be on FaceBook I googled his name. I was happy to see his face pop up on the first page but sad to see he was killed 10 years ago in Iraq.

My condolences go out to Brandens family and friends. Eight years later it doesn't get any easier. I have some things of Brandens that I would like to send to his family. I have a uniform top and a small, framed memorial we made for him. If anyone can help it would be much appreciated. My email is [email protected]

”Honor and Remember” - “Project Compassion” We love our Soldiers! We love our country and we cannot express enough love and compassion to the families of our fallen heroes. War does not discriminate – It breaks our hearts to see the faces of the fallen. We want to give this gift to the hero’s Mother, Father and/or spouse. We are a 501c3 nonprofit organization! Almost 2,000 portraits have been completed and shipped to the parents and or spouse - at no cost as this is a gift from one American to another!
This is a gift! We have some wonderful sponsors who help with the costs, and only want you know that we care.
Contact us directly at [email protected] or go to www.heropaintings.com . If you have already had a portrait completed, we pray that you are enjoying the portrait and God Bless You.
Sincerely and Respectfully,
Kenna

It is diffficult to know what to say since I want to express my sincere sympathy to the family and friends of Pfc Oberleitner. Please know that your loved one is not forgotten. I wish everyone impacted by this tragic loss strength and peace. I hope that Pfc Oberleitner knew that there are people in America who have respect for his great courage in serving as a member of the US military. Although I did not know him, I know that he must have been a very special person to be willing to do something that most Americans will never have to experience, and for that we can never say thank you enough.
Thank you Pfc Oberleitner!

To the family of Pfc. Oberleitner,
Please know that just as your loved one will remain in your hearts and minds, his sacrifice and that of your family, will remain with the people he died defending. Words cannot express the gratitude we feel for his bravery and selflessness, or the heartache we feel for your loss. God grant you the peace that passes all understanding.
Rest In Peace

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Branden, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

Father we entrust our brother Branden to your mercy. You loved him greatly in this life: now that he is freed from all its cares, give him happiness and peace forever. Welcome him now into paradise where there will be no more sorrow, no more weeping or pain, but only peace and joy with Jesus your Son, and the Holy Spirit forever and ever.
May God hold Branden in the palm of His hand. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. My deepest sympathy.

If this person can stand in battle to ensure my freedom, then I will stand in grief with his/her family to honor him/her. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Le Ron A. Wilson (a dear friend KIA 7/6/07, 18yrs old) that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.

"It is almost July 4 2007, and I have been wearing Branden's hero bracelet for three years now. For his Mom, Dad, family and friends...I tell everyone about him and to pray for everyone who is in Iraq. I continue to regret I never met Obie. My son, AJ, who is 22 now, and I have adopted Fort Campbell and all the soldiers as our guys in Branden's memory.
Please know how many he touched-I know that doesn't mean much; but he did."

A Multitude of Thanks, to your Brave Young Soldier, who gave his life for our Country and for Freedom. Thank you for his Courage, and his unselfish Dedication and Service.
May Pfc. Branden F. Oberleitner Rest In Peace, in God's Loving Care and may the Peace of God continue to be with the Oberleitner family.
Those who Made the Ultimate Sacrifice, So Many and So Young, shall Never Be Forgotten, my brother among them. Killed in action in Vietnam in 1967.

there shall be no more death,
nor sorrow, nor crying,
there shall be no more pain.

I am sincerely hoping that you continue to feel the thoughts of caring and support that surround you each day, as this Country remembers someone very precious to you, who is a Hero to all of us.
