†Army Spc. Omead H. Razani
Omead H. Razani, a medic, taught the soldiers in his platoon lifesaving techniques. When a suicide bomber detonated his car beside Staff Sgt. Tracey Koontz''s vehicle, that training saved Koontz''s life.
"That''s why I am able to stand here before you today," he said.
Razani, 19, of Los Angeles, died Aug. 27 of non-combat related injuries in Habbaniyah, Iraq. He was based in Camp Greaves, Korea.
Razani''s father immigrated to the United States from Iran in the 1960s to practice medicine _ an interest he passed on to his son.
Razani was looking at prospective colleges and was planning to continue paramedic training after he returned from Iraq.
