Trevor A. Roberts Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 27, 2007.
Trevor A. Roberts first approached his parents about being a missionary after a trip to Thailand. He knew he might be called to serve in Iraq, but he saw mission work as his life''s calling. "He just sat down with us and said, ''God is calling me to go work for these children in the foreign mission field,''" said his father, Chuck. Roberts, 21, of Oklahoma City, was killed March 24 by a roadside bomb in Anbar province. He was a 2004 high school graduate and was assigned to Oklahoma City. While in Iraq, seeing the plight of the people solidified in his mind that he wanted to be a missionary, Roberts'' parents said. "He saw some stuff he didn''t want to have to see," Chuck Roberts said. "It hurt him. He could look at the Iraqi people and see their hurt and their pain, and he could also see their joy. He could look in their eyes and just see." He also is survived by his mother, Twyla. Joey Ware, who has known Roberts more than 10 years, said his friend always looked out for those around him. "Trevor would do anything for anybody no matter what it cost him," Ware said. "I would hope to be like Trevor."

Still thinking about you, Bud. I saw your name on a wall today and I wished I could have another exhausted middle-of-the-night drive back from the field with you as my a-driver. An opportunity to put the BS aside and talk about life and what really motivates you...what we should all be motivated by. You're still an inspiration...we'll see you soon.

To the family and friends of Lance Cpl. Trevor A. Roberts:
Always remembering Trevor. "Some gave all."

I want to take the time to correct my previous entry. I referred to this brave young man as a soldier. For the family, friends, loved ones, and fellow Marines, I want to extend my apologies. He was a Marine, not a Soldier. I hope that my honest mistake has not offended anyone. My brother, Spc. Jeffrey S. Henthorn is one of the 100 men and women in Oklahoma, who have died while serving in Iraq or Afghanistan.

The thought that I may have offended someone troubles me, and I have an obligation to this Marine and his family to correct my mistake.
It is the least I can do, and I owe it to him to do that.

The flag is flying in the sky
A daily reminder of who and why
We sit here remembering them today
These heroes that now lie in their grave.

While here on earth, the bravest ones
A soldier, a mother, a daughter, a son
The father's who went far off to war
To ensure our safety and so much more

To keep our children happy and free,
Someone must do this job, you see
So, today remember the soldiers who served,
Because this is one thing they truly deserve.

The loved one's that they have left behind,
The Gold Star mothers, like your and mine
We honor them proudly, every day
Our American Soldier...Proud and Brave
By Shannon Williams-Austill

I want to thank this soldier for their sacrifice.
And, I wish to extend my deepest regards to the loved ones they have left behind. Their service to our nation, has not gone unnoticed. They are our heroes, who paid the ultimate price for us, and that is something that every American needs to be reminded of and remember everyday.
The freedom we all have, we have because of brave young men and women who made a choice to defend and serve.
Today, let me remember your loved one with you.

As a DOS contractor who had the priveledge to know Trevor and work beside him in Iraq I feel very proud. Trevor was the one who always had a kind word. Trevor Myself and the rest of the guys wear our KIA bracelets everyday. When people ask about the bracelets I tell them that is a friend and brother. I will continue everyday to carry you with me and share life with you as I know you are watching over myself and everyone else you touched on this earth.

I went to High School and Junior High with Trevor and I still can't believe he's gone. I keep expecting to see him at our HS reunion. He was a kind and genuinely caring person; and that is a rare find. A lot of the other guys didn't understand him because he was so different. His life was dedicated to God. He proved that everyday. I'm blessed to have known him. His actions in life will live on. I still remember him and the love he gave to everyone.

Dear Roberts family, Trevor was one of the best Marines I have ever met. Trevor touched my life in so many ways. Trevor never gave in to pressure and all ways made us laugh because he was always chewing on that tongue. We always gave him a hard time about it but as strange as it sounds its one of the things i will never forget about him. He was strong in the word of God which always reminded me were i should be when i was straying. So this is a thank you to you Trevor for keepin me on track and you still are brother. even tho we didnt spend alot of time in country together you were always a person I looked up too no matter how much I didnt showed it. You are tattooed in my daily walk man and never forgotten. May God bless the Roberts family the Way Roberts blessed me.

until we meet again,

As one of the marines who knelt beside Trevor the night he died I think about trevor every day and how his family is doing. Some of us still relive at night things we try to forget. One thing we will not forget is not only a friend, a Marine, or just someone we worked with, is a BROTHER. Trevor is forever engraved in our hearts as our brother. Through good times and bad he never lost his faith in god. We love and miss him very much. Semper Fi Brother

If this person can stand in battle to ensure my freedom, then I will stand in grief with his/her family to honor him/her. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guest book for the rest of my life, but I promised LE RON A. WILSON (a dear friend KIA 7/6/07, 18yrs old) that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.

“Paid in Full”
To Honor The Service of Fallen and Injured Marines

Marines through and through, they paid the price
Six thousand miles away, we live the life
For which they paid with their blood, spirits and bodies
We will never forget what they paid in full

We hope and we pray that somehow their loved ones find comfort
In God, in the flag, in the memory of their loved ones’ bravery
They’re gone now but we see them still…proud, strong, willing
Covering each other’s backs… courageous, moving forward

What kind of love did they have for us to be willing
To give all for the Black, White, Jew, Christian, Muslim?
We don’t comprehend but we honor you now and forever
You are Our Marines…some living…some not
Forever in our hearts we will cherish your lives

Lives too short yet immortal they’ll be
Highest brotherhood of the Few, the Proud
They stand at attention, and we gaze with awe
Some know their names not, but our admiration for them
Flows limitless within us, between us

They sacrificed their limbs or their lives
Freedom still rings, a soft sound across the miles
It tolls slowly; all of creation takes note
Of lives that were lost for people unknown

Out of sight but not lost; forever among us
The starched blues marching straight
Toward the place where we will meet them
Many years from now…how we loved them…
Well done beloved Brothers and Sisters…You’ve paid it in full
Always Faithful Marines, You Have Paid it in Full

May God bless your family for the beautiful life of your son. We are very proud of our soldiers and the many sacrifices they and their families make, especially that of their lives , no greater gift could be given. Your son's legacy will last for all eternity even though you bear great sorrow now. May the Lord give you His peace and consolation to know that your dear son was indeed ministered to by the angels of God and was never alone in his time of need. My brother was in the 3/14 HQ BTRY and just returned home on 4/7 for our mothers funeral. We share your sorrow and grief and hold you up in prayer. God Bless you, Kathy

I am so sorry to hear about another fallen! I know there are no words that I can say to ease your pain! The loss of a child is something that is the most difficult thing to bare. We can only pray that one day we will be together again. I was told that if you stretch a piece of string a mile long and line that string with beads, the beads would resemble eternity. Life here on earth is equal to “only one bead”. We have only a short time here compared to the time we will spend in eternity with our loved ones. The only thing I can say is let faith keep you grounded in your life and hold on to your loved ones! This will help you through! This is what helps me get through my days, I too have lost. My son entered into the Heavens to be with our Lord!
God Bless Your Family!

My heart goes out to you, the family of Lance Cpl. Trevor A. Roberts. You don't know me, but I wanted to let you know that my prayers are with you at this difficult time. I, too, have a daughter, AMY, (3rd generation USAF) that has spent many months, over a period of several years, in the middle east. It's times like these that you really realize the unique love that your son had for others. I pray that you will lean on GOD for your strength and know that your son is currently with our heavenly Father. GOD is, indeed, being blessed right now as he's reviewing your son's love and faithfulness to him, while he was in this world. To the family of Lance Cpl. Trevor A. Roberts:
The United States is a great nation because of the ultimate sacrifice of great young men and women in our military. Soldiers like Trevor Roberts simply awe me by their willingness to step in harm's way for my freedom. My dad was a WWII veteran and I often imagine he and other great soldiers lining the streets of gold welcoming their brothers and sisters into Heaven. My words can't express my thanks to you in your time of loss. God Bless you all.

Chuck and Twyla,
Mere words cannot express our thoughts and feelings for you at this time. It has been a privilege serving with you in the youth ministry at EHC. And as we endeavor to make a difference in young men and women's lives, we cannot think of a finer example than Trevor to show the walk of Christ in our daily lives. We are proud to have served with him in ministry and to call him friend. We are humbled and thankful for yours and his sacrifice. You are in our prayers. May God Bless You and Keep You and Cause His Face to Shine Upon You.

My husband was at the funeral although he did not know Trevor or his family. My husband was, at one time, in the same unit as Trevor (many years ago). As my husband has said "Once a Marine always a Marine" and they will stick together. My prayers go out to the family

My deepest sympathy goes to your family at the loss of your son. I didn't know him but I know that he must have been a wonderful young man to want to do the job that he did, I only know this because of my son and how he feels about the job he is doing. He to will be going to Iraq in June so I know how you felt when your son left. I just pray that God gives you strength and peace in the days to come and blesses you with peace in know that your son is with the Lord and that someday you will see him again.

To the family of Trevor Roberts,
We feel we know your family through Trevor's grandpa Willie. He and my Dad are good friends and Trevor has been to Dad and Mom's house with Willie years ago.
His and your faith in God will truly be your rock in these times.
We send our love and prayers today and forever for him serving our country, fighting for our families, his bravery, courage and love and committment to our Lord.
In prayer, The Keith Mann Family

My heart goes out to you upon the unexpected loss of your son. No one but those who have walked in your shoes can begin to understand your grief. Your grief, though, is shared in whatever way each of us can do so.
