Chad M. Allen Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 28, 2007.
Chad M. Allen joined the Marines the day after the 2001 terrorist attacks with a mission, said his mother, Deborah. "He was going to save his family from harm," she said. His parents said he volunteered for a second tour of duty to take the place of an injured fellow Marine. His father, Steve, said his son had just told him that he had been promoted to sergeant. Allen, 25, of Maple Lake, Minn., was killed Feb. 28 during combat operations in Anbar province. He was assigned to Camp Lejeune. Bart Kilgo, Allen's friend since kindergarten, said: "He was an all-around great person, the best friend I ever had." The two played high school football together _ Allen played guard on offense and linebacker on defense _ and remained close friends even throughout their military careers. Allen worked for a car wash and a landscape company before joining the Marines. He loved to fish, ride his motorcycle, and was homecoming king in high school, his mother said. "He was awesome, he was the coolest kid," she said. "He was very happy, very outgoing, never could sit still for a minute."

Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and also let the Allen Family know that we have made a small donation to TAPs to honor Chad M. Allen US Marine Sergeant. We recognize that this is a humble tribute, but we wanted you to know that it is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals across the American youth hockey community and beyond. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.

To the family of Sgt. Chad M. Allen:
As you may know, the Fort Snelling Memorial Chapel Foundation has honored your loved one at its Memorial Day Sunday worship service (each year in May) … since the time of your fallen hero's ultimate sacrifice. We will continue to pay tribute to our nation's veterans … lest we ever forget!
Now we would like to honor you … as the next-of-kin … who have also paid a great price on the altar of liberty. On Sunday 29 September at 11:00 a.m. we will host a Gold Star Family Sunday.
I would like to extend to your family an invitation to honor us with your presence at worship … as we pay tribute to your sacrifice. Our pastor, U.S. Army Chaplain (Colonel-Retired) Kenneth L. Beale, Jr., will preach a message entitled, “By Dying, We Live.” The special music will be the husband/wife vocal/piano — Wickman Duo. Following the worship experience, your family is invited to attend a social time in our Fellowship Hall … with some light refreshments.
As this historic chapel has limited seating, we would be happy to reserve seating for you and yours. To do so, kindly call (651/286-7296) and leave a voice message indicating your veterans' name and the number of persons attending. For more information about the Foundation or driving directions to the historic chapel at Fort Snelling, visit our website at: www.fortsnellingmcf.org
If you are not able to attend, we pray that you would find comfort in knowing that our prayers are with you and all of the fallen heroes.

Respectfully,

To the family of Sgt. Chad M. Allen:
The Fort Snelling Memorial Chapel Foundation will be honoring your loved one at the non-denominational Christian Memorial Day Remembrance worship service at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, 26 May 2013. We will remember the casualties of the Global War on Terrorism from Minnesota … and the bordering states of Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. Outside of the historic Fort Snelling Veterans Memorial Chapel will be a “Memorial Garden” filled with some 300 white crosses bearing the names of the war dead … including your loved one.

The Memorial Garden will be encircled with larger white crosses representing all of the wars of our nation's history and give honor to all who have served in the United States Armed Forces and made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy today. Wreaths will be placed at the foot of each 8-foot cross bearing the number of U.S. Service Members killed in each of America's conflicts.

I would like to extend to your family an invitation to honor us with your presence at worship as we pay tribute to the sacrifice made by your service member and family. Our pastor, Kenneth L. Beale, Jr., will preach a message entitled, “Freedom:Free, but Costly.” At the conclusion of the worship hour, all of the congregation will be invited to silently pay their respects at the garden and there place poppies at each of the crosses. A Memorial Rifle Squad of the Fort Snelling National Cemetery will fire vollies as the US flag is lowered to half-staff and Taps is played. Following your visit to the Memorial Garden, your family is invited to attend an informal reception (weather permitting) outside of the Chapel. The Memorial Garden will remain until 5:00 p.m. on Monday, 27 May (Memorial Day).

As this Christian worship service has traditionally been well attended, we would be happy to reserve seating for you and yours. To do so, kindly call (651/286-7296) and leave a voice message indicating your veterans' name and the number of persons attending. For more information about the Foundation or driving directions to the historic chapel at Fort Snelling, visit our website at: www.fortsnellingmcf.org Special rates for nearby hotels will be available. For more information call (651/286-7296) or email the office ([email protected]) and leave your name and contact information.

Also, beginning at dusk (8:30 p.m.) on Saturday 25 May through dawn (6:30 a.m.) on Sunday, 26 May, a “Prayer Vigil for Peace” will be held in the sanctuary of the Chapel. You are invited to stop by, light a candle and place it at the foot of your loved one's cross in the Memorial Garden … and then enter the Chapel for prayer.

If you are not able to attend, we pray that you would find comfort in knowing that our prayers are with you and all of the fallen heroes.

I have never met you, nor your family, but I thank you for your service from the bottom of my heart. I recently learned of you from a very dear friend that you have touched in many ways. He served with you and was there the day you were taken. You are a true hero through and through. I thank you again for your brave and sincere service to our great country and forever touching the heart of my dear friend. You will never be forgotten.

Prayer Shawls 4 Fallen Soldiers ([email protected]) is an organization with groups throughout the country who strive to send handmade prayer shawls and/ or lap robes to families who have lost a loved one in service to our country. Members of Trindle Spring Lutheran Church in Mechanicsburg, PA would like to honor your son’s sacrifice and memory by sending our prayers and comfort through a shawl which we will mail to you. If you are interested, please contact me at [email protected] with the names and addresses and what they would like to receive. We will send them as soon as possible. Also, if you know of any other families who are grieving the loss of a loved one who died serving our country, please pass along my e-mail address, as our organization can no longer get family contacts through the military. May God bless you and comfort you in the days ahead. Sincerely, Lynne

Dear family, I am very sorry for your loss. My 2 sons are Marines. One of my sons served in the 2nd LAR out of Camp LeJeune at the same time in Iraq. He sent out a message of memorial about your son today on his facebook page. Again, I am so sorry about your loss. I have lost 2 members of my immediate family in 2 separate car accidents at a young age, so I know how painful it is. Your son died as a hero protecting the rest of us. I have a banner that I use for the fallen. It says:
THEY GAVE THEIR TOMORROWS FOR OUR TODAYS. WE WILL NEVER FORGET THEIR SACRIFICE.

The banner has a picture of a Marine at his friend's memorial, kneeling at the foot of the helmet, rifle, boots, dogtags. This memorial was Chad's.

This banner is in honor of your son, even though I never knew Chad, I know him through his fellow Marine Jared. In 2007 Jared helped us honor Chad, his friend.

Every military funeral I attend Chad has been honored with this banner. When someone ask where did this banner came from, I let them know it is in honor and memory of Chad.

His sacrifice and your sacrifice will never be forgotten. We will honor his memory always.

My family wants to thank you for your service and your ultimate sacrifice. Your actions did display the motto taught at USMC boot camp: "Semper Fi."

Your family will be in our prayers daily. Know that as long as one is in one's heart and mind, they are not forgotten.

Sgt. Allen, you were my Vehicle Commander for my first 9-10 months in LAR. In that time, you saved me from so much trouble and problems, allowed me to spend extra time with my pregnant wife, and were just a general all around guy. We changed companies just prior to deployment and I didn't end up working with you in Iraq. The man I knew stateside embodied all those things that are great in a man and a Marine. I have your name written in all of my covers, and tell every new Marine I meet about you. You are my reason for pushing on and for trying to do the best that I can.

Rest in Peace, brother.

With the celebration of Memorial Day this weekend, I wanted you to know that even though I never met Chad, I think of him often. He was a good friend of my son Scott's and his death has had quite an effect on Scott. I keep Chad in my prayers and also your family. I will be honoring him on Memorial Day along with Scott's best friend from school who also lost his life in Iraq. They are truely heroes and I thank God every day for young men like them. God Bless your family. Someday I would like to meet your family. Till then you and Chad will be forever in my thoughts.

As we prepare to honor you and all who died this Memorial Day, I want you to know you stay close in my heart and the sacrafice you have given to every American. My thoughts and heart bring your mom to me for she has become a dear friend because of you. I was so happy to get clippings and pictures of your family Party like a Rock Star. It made my day to read about you!!May you rest in peace and find joy and happiness as you watch from above your loved ones. I'm one of many Marine Moms from 2ND LAR who will never forget that day.

To the family of Sgt. Chad M. Allen:
The Fort Snelling Memorial Chapel Foundation will be honoring your loved one at the non-denominational Memorial Day Sunday worship service at 11:00 a.m. on 25 May, 2008. We will remember the casualties of the Global War on Terrorism from Minnesota … and the neighboring states of Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. Outside of the historic Fort Snelling Veterans Memorial Chapel will be a “Memorial Garden” filled with white crosses bearing the names of the war dead … including your loved one.

I would like to extend to your family an invitation to honor us with your presence at worship as we pay tribute to the sacrifice made by your service member and family. Our pastor, U.S. Army Chaplain, LTC Kenneth L. Beale, Jr. will preach a message entitled “The Price of Freedom” At the conclusion of the worship hour, all of the congregation will be invited to silently pay their respects at the garden and place poppies at each of the crosses. An honor guard squad will be on hand to fire vollies as the US flag is lowered to half-staff and Taps is played.

As this Christian worship service has traditionally been well attended, we would be happy to reserve seating for you and yours. To do so, kindly call (612/970-7866) and leave a voice message indicating your veterans’ name and the number of persons attending. For more information about the Foundation or driving directions to the historic chapel at Fort Snelling, visit our website at: www.fortsnellingmcf.org

Also, beginning at dusk (8:30 p.m.) on Sat. 24 May through dawn (6:30 a.m.) on Sun. 25 May, a “PrayerVigil for Peace” will be held. You are invited to stop by and light a candle and place it at the foot of your loved one’s cross in the Memorial Garden, then enter the Chapel for prayer.

If you are not able to attend, we pray that you would find comfort in knowing that our prayers are with you and all of the fallen heroes.

Respectfully,
Leila Campbell

Alicia and I went to the Party like a Rock Star party in Maple Lake Thursday night. It was a night for people to gather and be together and honor you and the many other men, women, and families of our military.
We always knew you were a wonderful person, and our hero. We got to meet a few of your Marine Brothers that were with you that tragic day, and they are our heroes too! I hope you truly know how loved you are, and you will be forever in our hearts!!!

To Chad's Family:
It has taken me a long time to actually write this down, and there are a ton of crumpled up peices of paper in my trashcan with the startings of what I am writing here. You may not rememeber me. Actually, you probably don't but we on met once at the Memorial.
Serving with Chad was one of the greatest honors of my entire life, and I still feel the sadness of his death to this day. I was with Chad from October to February of the deployment, at first as his Assistant Patrol Leader, and later he as mine. He taught me everything I know about Iraq, LAV's, and he even gave me a few lessons in life.
The one thing that sticks out in my mind about every day with Chad was his smile. No matter how muddy, cold, dusty, or miserable we were, he was smiling. Even when we were dead tired and walking the streets, he always found ways to get us smiling. That is how I remember Chad, and how I will tell my children about him.

Rest In Peace

Steve,Deb,Linell,Ryan,Brandon,Christopher,and Kayla~
I can't believe I'm sitting here once again writing in this guest book. It has almost been 1 year already since Chad was taken from you all, and all the rest of us that loved him so much. It doesn't seem any easier tonight to write about it, than it did almost 1 year ago. My thoughts have been with you all each and everyday since then. We have been together this past year for different dedications, and ceremonies for Chad, and I'm sure you all have met many new people and made new friends. I hope that some of the events that have taken place over the past year have helped you all to heal. Just knowing Chad was loved so much, by so many people from all over the world. He joined the Marines to in his words "keep us all safe", and in the end gave the greatest sacrifice of all. I know he also joined the Marines to make his Grandpa Jerry proud, and I can't imagine Grandpa Jerry being any more proud of anyone. I just wanted to write in his book one last time, to let you all know we all loved Chad, and respected him for his courage, and bravery, and I couldn't be anymore proud of all of you, in how you have all handled the daily challenges of losing such a great part of our family!
Our Love to you All!!

AS WE COME TO THE ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF YOU LEAVING US WE STILL MISS YOU SO MUCH.

OUR BROKEN FAMILY CHAIN

WE KNEW LITTLE THAT DREADED MORNING,
THAT GOD WAS GOING TO CALL YOUR NAME.
IN LIFE WE LOVED YOU SO DEARLY,
IN DEATH WE DO THE SAME.
IT BROKE OUR HEARTS TO LOSE YOU,
BUT YOU DID NOT GO ALONE;
FOR PART OF US ALL WENT WITH YOU,
THE DAY GOD CALLED YOU HOME.
YOU LEFT US WONDERFUL MEMORIES,
YOUR LOVE IS STILL OUR GUIDE.
ALTHOUGH WE CANNOT SEE YOU,
YOU ARE ALWAYS AT OUR SIDE.
OUR FAMILY CHAIN IS BROKEN
NOTHING SEEMS QUITE THE SAME,
BUT AS GOD CALLS US HOME ONE BY ONE,
THE CHAIN WILL LINK AGAIN.
SEE YOU IN HEAVEN CHAD.

WE STILL MISS YOU SO VERY MUCH . EVERY DAY
SEEMS LIKE THE DAY YOU LEFT OUR SIDE.
IT’S STILL TOO HARD TO THINK YOU WILL
NEVER WALK IN THE DOOR AGAIN. PLEASE KEEP WATCHING OVER US ALL, WE STILL NEED IT.
ALL OUR LOVE FOREVER,
YOUR LOVING FAMILY
WE ARE THROWING A "PARTY LIKE A ROCKSTAR PARTY FOR CHAD" BACK HOME, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN

My husband, Cary and I were fortunate to meet Chad briefly when he was home visiting the two of you, his parents. We cannot even comprehend what your loss could possibly be like. We think of you often.

Our daughter Danielle is participating in a project at school honoring those who have served our country and she remembered specifically hearing us talk about Chad and what a courageous person to have kept us safe. We have created a flag heart banner in his name and a copy of his obituary that will be displayed at her elementary school in Hastings. He shall forever live on as a HERO. May God forever hold you in his arms as comfort and know that Chad is safely at home. Heidi, Cary and Danielle

All I can say Is you raised a wonderful young man who was proud to serve his country and was truely a Hero for what he did. He was a friend to Scott and a very good friend at that. He seemed to be loved by everyone in 2nd LAR. And from his picture I can see why. I hope you have found peace in his memories and know that he will never be forgotten. Scott still talks of him. God Bless your family.

Chad,
Brother I miss you terribly. I will never know if there was something I could have done more that day. All I know is that you were one of the finest men I will ever know and I will never forgive myself for your loss. I don't know how long I will be in the Marines, but however long it is, I know that serving with you and the rest of the boys will be my lifes honor. I will never know if you were just being Chad or if you knew something else, but thank you. You know what I am talking about and becuase of you I am here. And although sometimes it hurts pretty bad, you are and will always be my hero. You are the man that I try to emulate. Thanks dude and may God bless your family.

It is with a heavy heart that I finally add my thoughts to Chad's guest book. All I can say is that Chad was a good kid when I met him, and he turned into a fine Marine. My deepest sympathies go out to his family, friends and the 2nd LAR. Although his loss was a undeniable tragedy, his life made the world a better place.

If this person can stand in battle to ensure my freedom, then I will stand in grief with his/her family to honor him/her. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guest book for the rest of my life, but I promised LE RON A. WILSON (a dear friend KIA 7/6/07, 18yrs old) that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.

Sgt Allen was an outstanding, fine, young man, always "up" and quick with a smile or joke, you could always depend on him in any given situation. I knew Sgt Allen when he was Cpl Allen on the first trip over, spent alot of time together in line for computers and phones. He will be missed by all that had the true pleasure of knowing him, even briefly. I rest comfortably knowing that he is standing guard at Heaven's Gates with the rest of the MSG(FWD) that have guarded Heaven since the birth of the United States Marine Corps. Chad may be one of the first to meet and greet us on the other side....SEMPER FI BRO

In memory of Chad Allen, I wish to thank you and your dear family for the ultimate sacrafice you have given our country.

As Memorial Day approches..... He is not forgotten and will forever live in the memory of 2ND LAR BN and families who endured this loss too.

He is missed! I have replied once, and I'm compelled to continue to read and keep up on his memory book. As a Marine Mom of 2ND LAR BN, I think of each of our men as a family member, and I'm proud of each of them. My son is with H&S CO. has been through 2 deployments,he didn't personally know Chad, but knew about him through other Marines. I ask everyone to say THANK YOU TO CHAD and HIS FELLOW FALLEN COMRADES! They gave us love, admiration, and sacrafice for all Americans abroad. FREEDOM IS NEVER FREE!!!

May you find comfort and peace in knowing "God is never in a hurry, but always on time!" This has helped me in many difficult times.

May God comfort and bless this family, his friends and may this Memorial Day be a Proud Day as you remember "YOURS and OUR HERO" CHAD ALLEN!

GOD BLESS.....I believe Chad is watching over his loved ones and Marine Brothers in IRAQ!
