Mary Concannon Obituary

Mary Jane Concannon, 83, died on July 1, 2006, at her home in Topeka, Kansas. She was born in Garden City, Kansas, on August 21, 1922, the youngest of five children of Sylvia and Paul Crow. She graduated from Garden City High School and Garden City Junior College, and attended Fort Hays State University. She married James M. Concannon, Jr. on December 28, 1944, and they were married for twenty-five years. They lived in Columbus, Georgia, from 1945-1958 and she taught fifth grade there from 1956-58. After returning to Garden City in 1958, she was a bookkeeper for the Kansas State Department of Welfare. She later lived in Great Bend, Hutchinson and Topeka, Kansas. She had been a member of the First Christian Church in Garden City. She is survived by her son, James M. Concannon, and his spouse, Melissa P. Masoner, of Topeka, and her sister, Helen Beer, of Larned. A private burial will be held in Garden City. Memorial contributions may be made to the school or organization of the donors choice.
