We realize that we are very late to express our deepest condolences, but we wanted to let you and your family and friends know that we have made a small donation to the EB Research John Dilgen Plunge for Elodie in the name of Janelle Franshawn King US Army Private.

Its taken me a very very long time to write anything here, I've spent so long trying not to cry even thinking about what happened.. I was so damn tired..im so sorry! and I miss you so damn much I wish I would've told chamberlain to just have you come lay down. I miss our conversations for hours about everything, and i miss your smile the most. im better for knowing you and ill never forget you. I think about you all the time. I remember you just like it was yesterday, it feels unreal that you're no longer with us. Thanks for running with me when I wanted to give up in boot camp, I'd always admired your physical strength and I feel like you were always giving that to the people who needed it the most. What a special legacy to have, nearly 8 years later.

Janelle, soon it will be a year that you will have left God's earth for higher ground. The death of a child is something you never get over so please let your parents know that you are now ok. God has a way of giving us signs when we're still and I pray that God has allowed those signs to come to your parents and family. As a Gold Star Mother I know the pain of the death of a child. I also know that it's not the death we remember but the life you lived and loved. May that life be celebrated and remembered forever.
Your parents aren't alone and there are many who are there for them. If they ever want to talk to others who have gone through the death of a child or loved one in active duty please do contact me.

My heart has never felt so much pain since th day i found out i lost my best friend .King was what got me through all my hard times without her i would have never gotten this far. I was with her from the begining from enlistment date basic and further trainning. We got seperated after my medical discharge and i never thought i would be a permanent one. Noriega and I where her battles family and friends til the end and will always be Not a day goes by that i havent cried for her and looked up at the stars everynight knowing the brightest one is her looking down on us and shining her love like she always has. You are forever in my heart and in my mind I love you And i know we will come together again in the next life .Foreveryone who knew her like i did Knows the love she brings and the strength she holds I love her and i owe her the world.To her father . She always told me how she wanted nothing more then to make you proud and that you where the most important person in her life.

I just wanted to say that I miss you... Crazy I never met you but your dad told me so much about you. In his office he always had pictures of you. He just recently had his retirement ceremony, it killed him to say your name... He still loves you and it important to me to tell you and family and friends that through him we all grew to love you. It is disheartening to learn of the loss of such a truly esteemed and excellent soldier. For those of us who did know King and her great tenacity, the void is immense. She was also a friend to us all, honest and funny, and was especially encouraging to me when I was ready to give up on myself. I healed, got strong, and made it out of there just like she said I would. Mere words cannot describe how hard it is to understand why someone so good is not here anymore. Thoughts and hugs to the family of Janelle in their time of grief, as well as wishes for the safe return of all soldiers everywhere.

To Janelle Family & Friends: I got the pleasure of meeting your wonderful daughter and friend a few times in Merced before I moved to Texas. The love she showed for her fiancé, his family, and our country was such a beautiful sight. All you could do was love being around her. I am truly sorry for your loss. Going through a loss of a family member is going to be hard, but as days goes by it does get a little easier, as you come to realize she is in a much better place. Though everyday she will be missed she will never be forgotten.
To Janelle: You are greatly missed but one day we all will meet again. I know you are up there watching over your family and friends. We love you and thank you for your greatest sacrifice.
