Mary Lee Williams

Mary Lee Williams, 82, submitted her earthly spirit to God on Tuesday, July 1, 2025. She was born on January 15, 1943 to the late Tidie Alston and Ella Bell Daniels Whitaker. She was a native of Enfield, North Carolina.

Mary’s life was one dedicated to God and her family. She was a mother-figure and caretaker to everyone who knew her. She filled any room with life and laughter with her jovial spirit and candid conversations. She had a passion for children and always surrounded herself with opportunities to care for them. She married Ernest Williams on October 21, 1961 and together they had eight children.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Tidie Alston and Ella Bell Daniels Whitaker; brother Rufus Whitfield; son Wayne Williams; and son-in-law Gary Wilkins. She leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Ernest Williams; sister, Linda Whitaker; daughter, Rose Williams; sons: Leandrew Williams, Matthew Williams, Melvin Williams, Johnny Williams, Jeffrey Williams, and Willis Williams; godson, Dennis Everett, Sr.; grandchildren: Marcus Williams, Tiara Williams, Tirrell Smith, Julisa Ward, D’Wayne Newsome, Kendra Henderson, Tony Edwards, Kijante Sharpe, and Yahsim Williams; great-grandchildren: Kayleigh Ward, Azurey Henderson, Jamari Wellons, James Walton IV and Yahsim Williams, Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Viewing will be held Wednesday July 9, 2025 from 10am up until start of service @11am at Triumph Christian Center 5501 Huntington Ave. Newport News, Virginia 23607.
