Norma Jean Williams Montrose, PA
Norma Jean Williams, 93, of Montrose, PA, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 11, 2025, at Vestal Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Vestal, NY. Born in Meshoppen, PA, to the late Leslie and Eva Maria (Cornell) Jayne, Norma lived a life rooted in love, kindness, and faith. She was the heart of her family and the steady light in so many lives.
She is survived by her loving husband of 73 years, Harry E. Williams. Together, they built a beautiful life grounded in deep love and mutual respect. For 25 years, Norma and Harry were snowbirds, spending their winters in the warmth of Florida, where they enjoyed sunshine, new friendships, and many peaceful days together — always returning to the home she loved on Ridge Street.
Norma was a proud and loving mother to her three daughters and their husbands: Jaynie and Doug King of Medford, NJ; Susan and Jim Considine of Montrose, PA; and Leslie and Jeff Hoal of Montrose, PA. Her nine grandchildren — Brian (Lara) King, Stephen (Bri) King, Sean (Amanda) King, Michael (Heather) Considine, Matt (Colleen) Considine, Emily (Ryan Lane) Adams, Cory (Jenn) Adams, Caleb (Victoria) Hoal, and Ben Hoal — each held a special place in her heart, and she was overjoyed to see her family grow with the arrival of twelve great-grandchildren — Ryder, Austin, and Evelyn King, Grace Jurchak, and Aidan O’Shaughnessy, William and Sam Considine, Noah and Ari Brown, Zoe and Parker Adams, S.J. Hoal.
She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Lloyd Benscoter of Laceyville, PA, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sisters Rachael Sherwood, Juanita McMicken, and Beverly Benscoter; her brothers Tommy and Harold Jayne; and her beloved grandson, Jackson Considine. Though we mourn her passing, we celebrate the incredible life she led and the legacy she leaves behind.
Norma’s life was grounded in faith and service. A long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church of Montrose, she rarely missed a Sunday service and took comfort in her church community. Whether hosting family holidays, quietly helping neighbors, or simply offering a warm smile and listening ear, Norma made others feel loved and valued. Her sense of humor, gentle spirit, and fierce devotion to her family defined her.
Norma lived her life with grace, patience, and quiet strength. She taught her family the value of hard work, the beauty of kindness, and the importance of being there for one another. Her beautiful smile could light up a room and brought comfort to all who knew her. She will be deeply missed — but never forgotten.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at the First Presbyterian Church in Montrose, PA, with Pastor Rick Schmieg officiating. Interment will follow at the Montrose Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made in Norma’s honor to the First Presbyterian Church of Montrose, PA — a place that held deep meaning in her life.
