Phyllis Weiss passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 25, 2025, in Santa Rosa, CA after an extended illness with Parkinson’s Disease.
She was born on November 1, 1944, in Los Angeles, California, to Evelyn and Sidney Dolberg. She was born while her father was serving in the Army in the South Pacific during World War II and didn’t meet him until she was 16 months old.
Phyllis grew up in Van Nuys and graduated from Van Nuys High School in 1962. She began her college education at UC Berkeley and later earned a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Washington.
In her mid-twenties, Phyllis began a long and successful career with the Social Security Administration. She rose through the ranks and eventually served as District Manager, overseeing multiple offices across Glendale, Pasadena, and the greater Los Angeles area. She retired shortly before the birth of her first grandchild, Jacob Weiss—a milestone that marked the beginning of a new chapter filled with the deep joy of grandparenting.
Phyllis cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren and devoted countless hours to being present in their lives. She was also an avid traveler, spending extended periods in London and exploring other parts of Europe.
Phyllis was a devoted daughter, a loving mother and grandmother, and a loyal friend. She is survived by her son, Jason Weiss (Jennifer), and her beloved grandchildren, Jacob and Juliette Weiss.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Phyllis’s memory to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sonoma-Marin, where her son Jason works, at (https://www.bgcsonoma-marin.org), or to an organization supporting Parkinson’s Disease research.
