JACKSON CENTER — James E. "Jimmy" Shields, 68, of Jackson Center, OH, passed away Friday, October 31, 2014 at Lima Memorial Hospital.
Jimmy was born on June 21, 1946 in Lima, OH to the late Garl E. and Eva A. Buffenbarger Shields. He was also preceded in death by a stepson, Harold, two brothers, Kenneth L. Cook Sr., and Harold E. Minnich, a niece, Theresa Minnich and a nephew, David Minnich.
He is survived by six stepchildren, Lisa, Teresa, Edward, Anthony, Angela, all of St. Marys, OH, and Christina in Texas, numerous step-grandchildren, a brother, Roger L. (Florene) Minnich of St. Marys, a niece, Michelle (David) LaPoint of St. Marys, a great niece, Amber (Lee) Dotson, four great-great nephews, Xaine LaPoint, Bradlee, Gaige, and Layne Dotson, his cousin that he resided with for 13 years, Charlotte (Daniel) Sprague of Jackson Center, and many beloved cousins.
Jimmy was a 1964 graduate of Waynesfield-Goshen High School. He was a United States Marine veteran and served with the 1st Marine Air Wing in 1968-69 in Vietnam. Jimmy retired from Parker-Hannifin Corporation in St. Marys after 25 years. He was active with AA for 20 years and was a life member of VFW Post 9289 in St. Marys.
Pastor Scott Anderson will begin funeral services 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at Grace Chapel Christian Union Church in Santa Fe, OH. Visitation is from 4-8 pm, Tuesday, November 4th at Shoffstall Funeral Home, Lakeview and one hour prior to services on Wednesday. Burial is in Walnut Hill Cemetery, New Hampshire, OH.
Contributions may be given in his name to Grace Chapel Christian Union Church, 9491 Santa Fe Line Road, Wapakoneta, OH 45895.

So sorry to hear of Jim's death. He was a great friend even though had not seen him in may years. I have a lot of memories of him and was an adopted Uncle to my girls. Love you Jim.
