Michael,
Just found out about your death 8 years after its occurrence. By now the grief your current family and friends felt is now probably turned to pleasant memories, but it is fresh to me. You, Kathy, Don, and I spent a summer together in Southhampton County, Virginia during the summer after the passage of the Civil Rights Act, and during the summer of the passage of the Voting Rights Act. We were earnest, dedicated, and we thought the world was changing. We busied ourselves talking at churches, attending meetings of the community, encouraging people to register to vote, organizing marches. You were our main voice - the most passionate and articulate among us. You were a great and positive influence on me, and I will never forget you.

Sending heartfelt sympathy to the Michael Ross family. He was one of the few people in Seattle I could call my friend. Regret I learned of his passing day after memorial service. I will always honor his memory.

Dear Michael:

Oh, what an amazing man you were. Although we had only known you for a few years, it felt like a life time. We always enjoyed our visits with you. You were always laughing, joking ... being a great friend.

Michael, you were an inspiration! You were always there to help others. You made a big difference in their lives. Their lives will forever be changed in a good way because of you.

You once told me I was different because I had friends from different cultural, social-economic statuses. You were the same. You had the vision to see and know people for who they really are and accepted all of us into your heart.

Your good works will continue. I will strive to help others, to provide hope and opportunity to ALL people, and hopefully make a difference in their lives.

Your Legacy continues ......

We are honored to have known you. You will surely be missed!

Until we meet again, in Heaven ...

God Bless,

Liz and Carlos Vidal
