SCOTT FRICKER Obituary

SCOTT SPILLANE FRICKER
Passed away on Friday, December 22, 2017, at his home in Reston, Virginia. He was 48 years old. His life, and that of his loving wife, Buckley, were cut short by an act of inexplicable violence. Scott was the son of John and Sandy Fricker of Burlington, NC; the brother of Jason Fricker of Charleston, SC; and the father of Elliot Auden Fricker. He was the caring step-father to Kelly Sizemore Kuhn and Amelia Sizemore Kuhn Fricker. Scott was born in Heidelburg, Germany while his father was serving in the military. He spent all of his formative years and professional life in the Washington metropolitan area. He earned his bachelors' s degree from the University of Richmond, his master's from UC Santa Barbara and the Ph.D. from the University of Maryland in survey research methodology. He enjoyed his meaningful work for the Bureau of Labor Statistics and made many friends there. Scott's greatest enjoyment, however, was being a loving and involved family member. A memorial service will be held for Scott and Buckley at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 30 at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 651 Dranesville Road, Herndon, VA. In lieu of flowers, the Fricker family suggests that a prayer be said for all affected by this tragedy and that we all treasure the moments that we have with one another.

Hello Sandy, I am not certain that you will read this, but I wanted to share my good wishes for a truly grace-filled and joyful Christmas. Guess what, I am heading back to Holden Village next June leading a work crew to do maintenance tasks. Going back to good memories after 60 years. Blessings and love to you, my friend. Sandy, I am not sure that this might be the Sandy Holtan who was at Holden Village work camp back in the 60's. If so, please contact me at [email protected]. Blessings to you.

I am inquiring as to whether Scott's mother, Sandy, is Sandy Holtan formerly from Minnesota. I worked with her at Holden Village in Chelan, Washington, back in 1964. I am so sorry for this senseless death and wish God's blessings on all of the family.

Please contact me. Thank you for your kindness.

Dear Sandy, John, and Jason,
Like many, I was deeply saddened to learn of the extremely tragic death of Scott and Buckley.

I remember Scott from his McLean High School days when he and our son, Andrew, were good friends. He will be long remembered from those days as a high-achieving student, wonderful athlete, and very well-liked friend to many. I can tell that his life continued to be one of admirable success which you should always be proud of.

Please know that our sincerest condolences and thoughts and prayers are with you.
Sincerely,
Jane Price

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Fricker, Jason, and family, My family and I were devastated to hear the news of Scott and Buckley's passing. The first time I remember meeting Scott and Jason was very early on at Lewinsville elementary. My sister's (Dana & Amanda) and myself have countless memories at Tuckahoe/Solatar on the swim team and throughout our school years in McLean of Scott. He was such a great guy with a wonderful sense of humor. I'm sure his wife Buckley was equally as wonderful and will be dearly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I know he is watching over all of you in heaven.

Dear Jason, John, and Sandy, and family:

It is with a very heavy heart and much love that my husband, David, and I Iift our voices in prayers for your consolation and forebearance at this sad time. As you may remember, our sons, Scott and Walter, were in the same class and were of the same age at McLean, and our sons, Jason and Charly, are also of the same age and were in the same class. Recently, about a month ago, Charly and Jason met for lunch in Charleston.

We were unable to attend the memorial service today, but Charly and his wife, Lisa, were able to go, and joy you in prayer and commemoration. We, too, join you in prayer, heartfelt love, and sincere sympathy. We will continue to keep Scott and his family, and all of you and your family in our warmest regard and prayers. Please do not hesitate to contact us at any time.

May you know the gifts of consolation and endless love.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Fricker and Jason, I have fond memories of your family from the Lewinsville days when, among other things, Jason played soccer with my brothers for a while on the Blue Bombers. Although I didn't really know Scott, he was so friendly and gracious when I recognized his name at a conference a few years ago and introduced myself. I'm glad that I had a chance to briefly experience the fun, warm charisma that everyone here seems to be recalling. My heart goes out to you and your family after this devastating loss.

Where have you gone beautiful spirit of this earth?
The angels rejoiced at your birth,
As a spunky kid in the pool you left a spark,
The sport of swimming was a place you would leave your mark.

We trained together years ago in the pool,
To be the fastest and win- to you was so cool,
Your true grit in competition inspired us all,
Somehow Scott you always did it while having a ball.

You always managed to make people chuckle,
By just being you- in laughter we would all buckle,
You brought such joy to all life's crazy situations,
Your smiling face to see in swimming victory situations.

Always giving your best,
For life you had an amazing zest,
The little red haired kid that was witty and clever,
You will never be gone-you live on in our souls forever.

And one day we will see you once more,
Until that day our hearts in this world are sore,
We will swim in the everlasting waters of eternal life,
The sweetest memories of your spirit until then must suffice.

Scott Fricker, my beloved swimming teammate at Solotar, friend and brother in Christ:
Now you have your angel crown. Your character and substance will live on eternal. Thanks for for your incredible soul and spirit. You were, and forever will be, an amazing Breath of Heaven.

Buckley was such a Miracle Worker for the people she represented and cared for. She had the gift of compassion and honesty that made the situation shine even when things were out of control. We lost a true Angel. God Bless you, Buckley and Scott.

I knew Scott in high school when we both worked at Erol's in McLean. He was very friendly and kind, plus fun to hang out with when things got a little boring at the store. It sounds like he accomplished a lot in his life, both personally and professionally. I'm glad I had the chance to know him.

My heart is broken for your family. I am praying that you find the strength to carry on, and to lift that little boy of Scott's and Buckley's. May Scott's and Buckley's two other children also find peace and comfort in those who love them. I'm so very sorry for the loss of such beautiful and dedicated parents who lost their lives too soon.

So sorry for your unimaginable loss. I met Scott in 6th grade at Lewinsville Elementary. Although I haven't seen him since high school and didn't know him that well, he was always memorable as the cutest, friendliest boy in school. Prayers for you all.

To the family, I am sorry to hear the news about your loss. May the God who "binds up the brokenhearted" and "comforts all who mourn" sustain your family during this challenging time. Isaiah 61:1,2

Dearest Jason and Mr/Mrs. Fricker, The Lopez Family as well as the Tuckahoe/Solotar swim community were all devastated to hear about this tragic end to a talented fun loving soul. My children now swim on the Tuckahoe team and know what it means to grow up together. Scott remains an unforgettable part of that swim family for me. Lots of love to you all and his young son in this time of heartwrenching loss.
With love,
Julie
