Jill Burnett Obituary

Jill Ann Burnett November 24, 1945 - July 8, 2009 SALEM - Jill Ann Burnett passed from death unto life July 8, 2009 with her son at her side in the ICU at the Salem Regional Hospital. She was 63. Jill was born in Lancaster, Ohio to James and Ethel Crampton. After graduating from Lancaster High School in 1963, she worked as a secretary for Western Electric of Columbus, Ohio. In 1975, she married Dean Burnett of Baton Rouge, La. They moved to Salem in 1977, where Jill worked in state government for roughly 28 years: briefly as a temp for the Department of Commerce, the Public Utility Commission and Oregon Watershed Enhancement Board, with her primary employment being as the Webmaster & NT Administrator of the Division of State Lands. In 1986, she was overjoyed to become a mother; this proved a most profound and lifelong joy. Jill was an incredibly loving wife and mother, a caring and dedicated friend, a compassionate, generous and sensitive soul. For nearly 50 years, she lovingly honored and faithfully served the Lord Jesus Christ, her Kinsman Redeemer. She had a heart for the lost and disadvantaged, serving as a child sponsor, missionary to Costa Rica, and friend to the homeless. Her personal ministry www.atthewell.com has encouraged and inspired many worldwide. She kept a heart wrenchingly beautiful diary of her beloved husband and his battle with cancer, it can be found at djdailyphoto.blogspot.com. A tribute to her love of Salem and its surroundings is her blog salemdailyphoto.blogspot.com. Jill dreamed of visiting Paris and Venice, and spoke of retiring to the French countryside. Her favorite place on earth was the Oregon coast, at Road's End in Lincoln City. She loved visiting the Schreiner's Iris Gardens ever year. She greatly enjoyed graphic and web design, blogging, photography, gardening, cooking, sewing, welding, cat herding, arts and crafts, and singing praises to the Lord. Her favorite movies were Anne of Green Gables and Anne of Avonlea, Driving Miss Daisy, and the Bourne series; her favorite music included that of the Gaither Vocal Band and Il Divo. Jill is survived by her son, Jonathan of Salem; brothers, Jack of Texas, Jeff of Ohio and Jim of Calif. She was preceded in death by her parents and loving husband. Services are pending. Further details will be published on djdailyphoto.blogspot.com.

Dear Jonathan,
Even though your mother and I never met we became good friends because of our blogs and love of Paris and Il Divo and photography. She is sorely missed by so many. She visited and posted to blogs around the world and we all looked forward to her loving comments.
Hugs,
Karen

Jonathan,

Jill was my first cousin. She and I are about the same age. Her Mother and my Dad were brother and sister. I remember her as a lifeguard at Miller Pool in Lancaster. She and her brothers were known as always kind and friendly.

The words of the faithful man Job asked: "If an able-bodied man dies, can he live again?"

Then he gave this comforting answer:

"All the days of my compulsory service (in the grave) I shall wait, until my relief comes. You will call, and I myself shall answer you. For the work of your hands you will have a yearning." Job 14: 14,15

My wife and I look forward to seeing her again in the resurrection as God "yearns" to make it happen.

Our love and condolences to you and yours.

Dear Jonathan,

Even though I never met them, I know your parents would both be so proud of you right now. Be strong and feel their energy. And remember to take care of yourself.

Dear Jonathan, to be loved is the greatest gift we can be given and it was very evident to me that your parents loved you immensely. That love will be a great strength to you throughout your life as you reflect on your time with them.

I thank God for His promise that He already had a mansion prepared ahead of time for your mom and dad. I just didn't think for a moment that your mother would join your dad so soon and my heart is missing a part now that she is not here. She has been a blessing to me in so many ways over the years and I too will reflect often on what a truly sweet and precious woman she was.
You did a great job on the obituary.
May God bless, comfort and sustain you as you make all of the adjustments that your two losses have caused.

Dear Jonathan,

My husband and I knew your parents when they were still in Ohio and I have deeply appreciated their great love for the Lord and the ministry they shared with so many others. Your mother's site At the Well has been a place of inspiration and encouragement for me many times. We were not in touch real often but after hearing about your father's illness I kept up with the blog your mother had set up. She had so many gifts and abilities and will be sorely missed.
I can't even begin to tell you how sorry I am for the loss of both your parents in such a short time. You did a really wonderful, loving obituary for your mother and I know she would feel blessed by your words. We will continue to keep you in our prayers in the days ahead. I wish there was some way we could do something helpful for you, but we are so far away, the best thing we can do is pray. I hope you feel the prayers and comfort that are being offered on your behalf from so many who loved your parents. God bless you in every way.

Jonathan,

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I've never forgotten how kind and giving your parents were, and have often thought about your family over the years. I fondly recall one occasion during elementary school where we were celebrating your birthday and many kids spent the night at your house. We watched Flipper and played video games at night (Secret of Mana), then your parents made us a very nice breakfast in the morning. My father used to converse with yours when school was over, and my dad has frequently asked about your father and family over the years. He really admired your father for his hardworking nature. My brothers who work at Fitts Seafood sold some fish to your mom and dad last year. When they came home, they commented on how sweet your mother and father were. I recently read through your mother's blog at djdailyphoto.blogspot.com. I am glad to know she was receiving strength and encouragement through her Lord and Savior. If you ever want to talk or hang out, send me a message at [email protected]. I'm always available to help an old friend.

God Bless.

Dear Jonathan - I am so sorry for your loss, both of your father and your mother. (Not sure if you remember me or not; Mrs. Bowling, secretary at WCS when you first started there; Peter's mom) Your mom and I would chat and sometimes your dad would talk with me. They were both so proud of you. What a great example of faith and serving they have left for you. Your Father in heaven will continue to walk with you, Jonathan. God cared enough about you to place you in such a loving family and although your parents' time on this earth has come to an end the memories of all they poured into your life will never end. It made me sad to hear of your loss. God bless.

Dear Jonathan,
Please accept our deepest condolences. We have thought about you so often through the past years and wondered how you and your family were. We are so sorry to hear that your mom and dad have passed away. You were such a good friend to Chris and we really enjoyed having you and your family in our lives when we lived in Salem.
We are living in San Diego now. Chris just graduated from Azusa Pacific Univ. and is heading off to Israel for a year. We have seen John-John acouple of time with college soccer but not too many other of Chris' Salem friends.
We would love to hear from you and know what you are up to when things settle down abit.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you. It sounds like your mom and dad did a great job in encouraging you in your Christian faith. Hold strong - Jesus loves you and so do so many of your friends.
