Her sense of humor and spirit of adventure kept her young at heart until the very end. She was still driving by herself as far as Jacksonville, FL, and swimming in the Atlantic Ocean at age 85. Jean was an avid reader who loved going to the theatre, movies, and sporting events. But most of all she cherished her children, Rebecca, Susan and her husband, Craig, Jim and his wife, Patricia, and her grandchildren, Michelle and her husband, Michael, Kevin, Jimmy, Kate, Chris, and Jake, and Patricia’s children, Ali and Ryan, all of whom promise to carry on the tradition of gathering as a family every summer at Holden Beach.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 22, at 2:00 p.m. at Seven Oaks Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Providence Hospital Foundation for those wanting to remember Jean.

I always enjoyed getting to visit with Jean at Jim and Pat's "superbowl parties". She was a lovely, gracious woman, and was so full of the joy of life. I know she will be missed greatly by her family and friends. I hope that all of her family will find peace and joy in the wonderful memories they will have of their Mother and Grandmother. Our thoughts and prayers are with them.
