Ruth Ellen Schaller

Ruth Ellen Schaller, 76, passed away in Phoenix, Arizona on May 24, 2025 after a long illness. Ruth was born in Indianapolis, Indiana to Robert and Jeneva (Pruitt) Schaller who preceded her in death. Her brothers, Scotty, Robert, and Samuel also preceded her in death. Ruth is survived by her children, Ron, Wayne, and Holly along with three grandchildren, Henry, Emmy, and Meredith. She is also survived by her sister, Kristina Schaller Smith (Randy Smith) and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In 1952, Ruth moved with her family from Indiana to Arizona. She attended Paradise Valley High School and received her Bachelor of Science in Environmental Sciences (Horticulture) from Arizona State University. She worked in the plant nursery industry in Arizona. She then joined the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier and retired after a 20 year career. Ruth was a certified Master Gardner with the Maricopa County Extension Service and volunteered her time providing expertise to residents of Maricopa County. She was a Phoenix Botanical Garden volunteer as well as a kitchen volunteer feeding unhoused populations at the Andre House in downtown Phoenix. Ruth will be remembered most for her love for her family, lifelong friends, and her community. Services will be held at 11:00 am on June 19, 2025 at Hansen Desert Hills Mortuary and Cemetery located at 6500 East Bell Road, Scottsdale, Arizona. 85254. Interment will immediately follow the service at the same location.
