Patricia Butler Obituary

Patricia Ann Lambert Butler, 85, passed away May 18, 2025, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Saturday, May 24, at the Allen-Summerhill Memorial Chapel, 126 E. New York Ave. in DeLand, with a memorial service to follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. A reception will take place immediately after the service at the Stetson Baptist Church Family Life Center, 503 N. Spring Garden Ave. in DeLand.
Patricia was born Oct. 15, 1939, in Fort Lauderdale, to Clara Margaret (Willix) and Harry W. Lambert. She was a big sister to Kathleen Elaine "Kaki" Lambert Burns.
In 1957, Patricia met Charles Joyner Butler at Southwest Baptist Church of Fort Lauderdale. They fell in love and were married in 1961.
Patricia and Charles lived in New Orleans while she finished her degree at the Mather School of Nursing, and then moved to Macon, Georgia, where Charles finished his degree, before relocating back to Florida.
They soon began a family, and Patricia became mother to Serena Lynn and Suzanne Elaine. She made sure to set up a wonderful home each time they moved around the U.S. to Orlando; Ocala; Perrine; Penfield, New York; Woodinville, Washington; Springfield, Missouri; West Chicago, Illinois; Rogersville, Missouri; and DeLand.
Patricia had three passions in life: Jesus, her family and quilting. She gave her life to Christ as a young girl and was always involved in church in all the places she lived. Her passions were evident as she led Girls in Action, took part in mission activities, and supported missionaries around the world.
Patricia gave up her career in nursing to be home with her daughters as they grew up, and stayed closely connected to them in their adult lives. Many family members are proud owners of quilts lovingly stitched by her. Patricia also created many quilts that were donated to Project Linus, Boggy Creek and Samaritan's Purse.
Patricia's love of people was manifested in the countless birthday and anniversary cards she sent and the many times she hosted gatherings in her home.
She is survived by her husband, Charles; daughters Serena Butler and Suzanne Rood (Rich); grandson John Rood (Jessica); granddaughter Lois Shaw (Mike); great-grandchildren Anderson Shaw, Levi Rood and Nellie Shaw; sister Kaki Burns (David); and many dear members of the extended family.
Allen-Summerhill is in charge.
