Carolyn Marie Wilson

Carolyn Marie Wilson, age 84, of Marion, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 2, 2025, at Marion Valley Post Acute. Born on July 17, 1940, in Marion, Ohio, Carolyn was one of eleven children of the late Homer and Eva M. (Austin) Spears. She graduated from Marion Harding High School in 1958 and, shortly after, married the love of her life, Walter E. Wilson, on July 7, 1958. Together, Carolyn and Walter built a life in Marion, raising two sons and cherishing memories from their fishing and camping adventures in Michigan. Carolyn and Walter were longtime employees of Ridgedale Schools. Carolyn served as a beloved cook, often quietly paying for students' meals when they couldn't afford them, while also helping Walter maintain the school's facilities with pride and care. Carolyn found great joy in her family. She loved spending time with her sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. At home, she was happiest in her garden or keeping her house immaculate. She enjoyed putting together puzzles, as well as crafting with needlepoint and latch hook. She is survived by her sons, Walter E. (Kathy) Wilson, Jr. and Dwayne A. (Jared Lane) Wilson; grandchildren, Brandi Trimbur, Amber Brown, Jon Trimbur, and Jeremy Wilson; great-grandchildren, Devon, Carson, Jackson, and Gemma; great-great-grandchildren, Millie and Angel; her sister, Sheryl Boggs; and many cherished nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband of over 61 years, Walter, who passed on January 2, 2020, and by her siblings: Gennie Spears, Jimmy Spears, Ronnie Spears, Stanley Spears, Robert Spears, Marlene Black, Gloria Fosnaugh, Conie Houston, and Norma Rogers. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2025, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Snyder Funeral Homes, Gunder/Hall Chapel, 347 West Center Street, Marion. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 6, 2025, at the funeral home, with burial in Grand Prairie Cemetery.
