Eric Williams Obituary

Eric A. Williams

July 7, 1971 - July 30, 2025

Eric A. Williams, 54, of Shippensburg, passed away on the morning of Wednesday, July 30, 2025, with his loving and devoted wife by his side. Born on July 7, 1971, in Winchester, Va., he was the son of Samuel and Norma (Seilhamer) Williams. On September 9, 2000, he married his best friend, Laura A. Strayer. Eric was a 1990 graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School. He went on to earn an associate's degree from Hagerstown Junior College in 1992 and a bachelor's degree from Shippensburg University in 1997. During his academic years, he discovered a passion for running and was a proud member of the Cross Country and Track & Field teams. Eric dedicated his life to counseling and supporting survivors of domestic abuse in his community. Over the past 25 years, he has held various roles at WIN Victim Services, most recently serving as the Direct Services Manager, where he oversaw all support services. He was also the co-founder of the AMEND Program, a batterers' intervention initiative. The program grew tremendously, due in large part to Eric's talent for program development and his deep commitment to the cause. He was a fierce advocate for domestic violence prevention, leaving a legacy that will endure in the many lives he touched. Eric's dedication to service extended well beyond his professional work. A man of Christian faith and generosity, he volunteered in both coaching and leadership roles with several local youth organizations, including Shippensburg Area Little League, SAYA Basketball, and SSC Soccer, among others. Of all his roles, the one Eric cherished most was being a dad. He found his greatest joy in being present for his children - cheering them on, guiding them, and celebrating with them. He was immensely proud of Caitlyn and Alex and was deeply committed to supporting them in everything they did. He found joy in cheering for the Steelers and Orioles, vacationing with his family, running, hiking, watching TV & movies, playing fantasy football, and spending meaningful time with those he loved. Known for his lighthearted spirit and infectious humor, Eric's smile lit up every photo and room he entered. He had a special gift for connection and made new friends wherever he went. Eric's wisdom, composure, and witty sayings will be remembered by all who knew him. He left a profound mark on this earth-as an advocate, a mentor, a friend, and most of all, as a devoted son, brother, uncle, husband, and father. He positively influenced countless lives, and his presence will be forever missed. Eric is survived by his beloved wife, Laura A. Williams; their two children, Caitlyn J. Williams and Alex E. Williams; his parents, Samuel and Norma Williams of Chambersburg; his sister, Lori Wells and husband Don of Chambersburg; his brother, Brett Williams of Lancaster; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., with Mr. Paul Ritchie officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Friday, August 8, 2025, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., and again one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to WIN Victim Services, either online at winservices.org or by mail to 1280 Progress Road, Chambersburg, PA 17201, to continue Eric's mission of supporting and empowering survivors of abuse.
