Dave Orman Obituary
David Arthur Orman (Dave), beloved husband of Linda Orman, passed into his heavenly home on Saturday, March 29, 2025. He was born on July 15, 1951 to John and Dixie Orman at the U. S. Naval Hospital in Memphis TN.
Dave spent his life serving humanity and his country saving many lives. He was a Combat Medic "Doc" in the U. S. Army's 101st Airborne Division in Vietnam from 1968-1971. After completing his tour, he was honorably discharged, and returned home to Corinth MS where he worked as a farmer for a few years then as an emergency medical technician/ambulance driver while attending nursing school.
He received a licensed practical nursing degree in 1976 from Northeast Mississippi Jr. College Booneville MS, and worked for many years in the emergency rooms at hospitals in Selmer TN (McNairy County Hospital), Memphis TN (Doctors Hospital and John Gaston Hospital-The Med), Mountain View AR (Stone County Hospital) and Milan TN (Milan General Hospital). He also worked as a staffing nurse at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital (Jackson TN), Medical Surgical and Telemetry at Regional Hospital (Jackson TN) and Rehabilitative Nursing for Cane Creek Hospital (Martin TN).
He attended University of Tennessee at Martin where he received degrees in History and Philosophy in December 2004. He left the hospital setting and began working as a private duty nurse in the pediatric home health care field for No Place Like Home until December 2024. During the time he worked as a nurse in the hospital emergency rooms and pediatric home health care field, he also worked as a volunteer firefighter in Walls MS, Medina TN, Milan TN, Adamsville TN and Savannah TN (Hardin County) where he retired from in April 2021.
Dave was a man of many talents, having electrical and plumbing licenses, doing carpentry, construction and landscaping work. Dave could build and repair almost anything. Dave was also an excellent writer and was writing a book of all of his life experiences at the time of his death.
He is survived by his wife, Linda M. Orman, his daughter, Amy Orman Kyriakidis, his son Dexter Orman, his brother Philip Orman, his sister April Orman Pounders, stepson Jacob Johnson, five grandsons, two granddaughters and former spouse Janet L. Orman (mother to John Edward Orman).
He was predeceased by his mother Dixie Lee Orman, his father John David Orman, his sister Rebecca Orman and his son John Edward Orman.
Dave started attending 8:30 traditional service with Linda in March 2015 and became a member of Christ Methodist Church in September 2016 prior to their marriage September 30, 2016. Dave and Linda joined the Lamplighters Sunday School class in August 2024. Dave shared his faith by serving and taking care of others. Dave never met a stranger and would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it.
The family suggests any memorial donations be sent to the care and traditional music ministries of Christ Methodist Church Memphis and to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV).
