Elizabeth Hill Obituary

Elizabeth Ann Hill, 85, of Olive Branch, MS passed away on Monday, March 24, 2025 from a brief illness at Methodist Olive Branch Hospital surrounded by her family. Born November 18, 1939 in Sledge, MS, Elizabeth was the daughter of the late James Henry and Fanny Lou "Dolly" (Tankersley) Harpole. On May 17, 1959 in Crenshaw, MS, she married the love of her life, Forest Hill, and together they shared nearly 66 years of joy, companionship, and support for one another. As a mother to four sons, Elizabeth balanced multiple jobs while raising her family. Despite the demands of raising children, she achieved a major personal milestone by earning both a bachelor's and a master's degree in education. Her passion for teaching led her to a fulfilling career, where she advised and inspired countless students in the subject area of English until her retirement. Elizabeth found delight in the simple things, like cooking meals for her family, tending to her flower beds, and attending plays and concerts. She was also an avid reader and was passionate about staying informed. Whether it was reading books, magazines, or the latest news, she found great joy in expanding her knowledge and engaging with the world around her. Above all, Elizabeth cherished her time spent with Forest, her partner in life. She also took immense pride in her Hill family. She was a member of Longview Heights Baptist Church, Olive Branch, MS. In addition to her husband, Forest, Elizabeth is survived by her four sons, Paul (Debbie), David (Brenda), Keith (Gladys), and Jason (Jessica); 12 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Marr, Sharon Williams, Marilyn (Bob) Simmons; several brothers and sisters-in-law as well as nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Harvey Ronald, James Henry Jr., Michael and Garry Harpole, along with numerous brothers and sisters-in-law. A visitation for Elizabeth will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133 with her funeral immediately following at 2:00 PM. The graveside will occur Saturday, April 5, 2025 at 3:00 PM also at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133.
