Francisco de la Camara Obituary

Francisco Jose de la Camara

February 10, 1932 - April 1, 2025

Key Biscayne, Florida - Francisco Jose de la Camara passed away peacefully on April 1, 2025, in Key Biscayne, Florida. He was born in Havana, Cuba, to Jose Ignacio de la Camara and Maria Josefa Arguelles, Marqueses de San Felipe y Santiago and Condes del Castillo con Grandeza de España.

In 1956, Francisco married Rosa Alsina Lora. They were preparing to celebrate their 69th wedding anniversary in July. In 1960, they fled the Cuban Communist Revolution, settled in Key Biscayne and resided there since.

Francisco built a successful career in the import-export industry. After retirement, he found joy traveling the world with his beloved Rosita. He offered a kind word and a laugh to all who knew him. A devoted member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, Francisco's faith was a constant source of strength and fulfillment throughout his life.

Francisco is survived by his wife Rosita; children Rosa, Margarita and Hector (Valverde), Francisco and Irma; and grandchildren Natalie, Frances, Rene, Frankie, and Carlos.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered prayers, condolences, and kindness during this time.

Hi. I did not know Francisco. I used to live in The Roads (near Key Biscayne) until I decided to go back to Cuba to take care of my elderly mother, who up until January of this year was living in Havana. My father is from an old family of Bejucal. I have an interest in the history of this town where I spent many happy moments when I was a child. I was just reading about the Marqueses. I never thought that the title was still alive. Francisco is listed in Wikipedia as the last marqués. I look him up and turns out he just past away. What a pity. We were neighbors and I never knew! My condolences to the family. It's very unlikely you need anything from Cuba, but if you do, please let me know and I'll try to help. I'm currently working as a volunteer in the archives of the Bejucal church, which was built in 1722 thanks to the 1st marqués. Que Dios lo tenga en su santa gloria!
