Loving Husband, Father and Friend
Larry Dean Taylor, known as "Chief" age 62 of Bishop, CA was called home by Creator on April 19, 2025 doing what he loved. He passed unexpectedly while camping in Ventura, CA, with his wife and soulmate by his side.
Larry was born on July 21, 1962, to Ella Marie Sallee and E. J. "Red" Taylor in Pacoima CA. He moved to the Owens Valley with his mother and sister Tess at a young age, residing in Bishop for the majority of his life. Larry was always mechanically inclined and pursued a career in mechanics, later moving into the trucking industry.
On April 19, 1997 Larry married Marthina his true love, soul mate and best friend. He was a devoted, loving and dedicated father remaining in Bishop to adopt and raise Shaunee, Courtney, Willie and then came Ravyn. Larry then bought a toter and started Taylors Mobile Home Transport, moving mobiles around the valley. Him and Willie could get homes into places where nobody else could. Larry would always be seen working security at the park and Millpond Music Festival every year. He was known as the "go to guy" and could always fix the situation or make it better.
Larry was a man of many talents. He was a mechanical wizard and would always be working on something, trying to fix it. Gardening was one of his many hobbies. He had a knack for growing beautiful green gardens. He loved riding his Harley Davidson and was always down for a ride with his wife. Camping was also a newfound passion of his. The beach was his happy place. He loved spending time with his wife, kids and grandchildren whenever possible, always offering words of advice and a kind hand when needed.
Larry was preceded in death by his mother Ella Marie Salle and Father E.J. "Red" Taylor. Survivors include his wife, Marthina and 4 children, Shaunee Andreas, Courtney Taylor, Willie Taylor and Ravyn Taylor, his sister Teresa Morales and brother-in-law Jose "Oso" Salvador, niece Elena Cerros, nephew Daniel Morales, great-niece Anaya, his sister Caroline Timmerberg of Germany.
10 grandchildren: Jayce Taylor, Jennalyce and Kaiyler Smith, Jalayah Andreas, Jaidyn, Koso and Jaxson McKellips and Jazmin Botello, Ahanu and Rylan Taylor and 1 great- grandchild Adaline Marie Ann Richards, and numerous other nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life for Larry will be held May 18, 2025, at Millpond Park, gazebo area @ 1 p.m.-4 p.m. Potluck style, please bring a favorite dish and a chair. If you have a Harley, please ride it!!!!
Larry was an honest, hard working stand-up guy who believed your word was who you are. His big mustache and cheesy grin will definitely be missed by all. His spirit will always be with us and his wings will be forever wrapped around us with the love he always wanted us to know!!
