ANGOLA - Ned Allan Somerlott, 87, of Angola, Indiana, died peacefully on Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2025, at Cameron Health in Angola, Indiana.
Ned was born on April 8, 1938, at the family homestead in rural Angola, Indiana.
He graduated from Metz High School in 1956.
Ned was a farmer and was fortunate enough to have been able to farm until the day he died.
He was married to Marcella Lee Jack from March 8, 1959, to Dec. 14, 1989.
He married Shirley Ann Lockhart Gilbert on Aug. 11, 1990, until she passed away on Jan. 3, 2022.
Ned was a life-long member of Mount Pleasant United Brethren Church and attended Metz Christian Church.
Surviving are his daughters, Sandy (Dr. Bradley) Igney, of Wolcottvlle, Indiana, and Debbie (Bruce) Brinkley, of Marion, Indiana; three stepsons, Dennis Gilbert, of Angola, Indiana, Wesley Gilbert, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and David (Stela) Gilbert, of Roscommon, Michigan; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his two brothers, David Somerlott, of Angola, Indiana, and Alvin Somerlott, of Columbia City, Indiana.
He was also preceded in death by his son, Andrew Gene Somerlott; daughter, Judy D. Springer; granddaughter; stepson, Larry Gilbert; sister and brother-in-law, Donna J. and Jay Gear; brother, Richard Somerlott; and sister-in-law, Kimberly Somerlott.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., on Monday, Sept. 15, 2025, at Weicht Funeral Home, Angola, Indiana.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2025, at Weicht Funeral Home, Angola, Indiana.
Final resting place will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Angola, Steuben County, Indiana.
