Matthew Reed Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 6, 2025.
Matthew Thomas "Matt" Reed, 38, passed away on May 15, 2025, in Robstown, Texas. Born on March 25, 1987, in Austin, Texas, Matt lived a life marked by compassion, laughter, and an unwavering love for the natural world.

Matt dedicated over a decade of his life to serving others as an emergency room trauma technician at Dell Children's Hospital. His work in this high-pressure environment reflected his calm demeanor and deep empathy. After that, he spent four years working in cathodic protection-another testament to his diverse skills and strong work ethic.

Those who knew Matt remember him as someone who brought light into every room. He had a rare ability to make anyone laugh and was known for his quick wit and direct nature. He disliked small talk but loved meaningful conversations that revealed the heart of a person. Fiercely loyal and deeply insightful, Matt chose love over bitterness time and again. His gentle soul and compassionate spirit left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Matt found peace and spiritual connection in the great outdoors. Whether fishing, camping, hunting, or hiking, he felt closest to God surrounded by nature's beauty. He also served at Journey Church as an usher for a time in his adult life and was baptized there-a meaningful chapter in his spiritual journey.

A man of many passions, Matt loved animals-especially chickens-and enjoyed gardening, reading books, cooking delicious meals (minus the clean up), and spending time with friends. His culinary talents were well-known among those close to him.

Matt was a beloved son to Terrance Reed and Lisa Reed; a cherished brother to Peter Reed Jago (wife Sandra Jago), Melissa Reed, Judah Reed (wife Hazel Reed), Grace Dávila (husband David Dávila), Lawrence Reed, and Rebecca Reed; and a devoted uncle to Dakota, Deacon and Declan Dávila and to Elaina Reed.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Barry Cox and Janet Cox, as well as Benjamin Reed and Mary Ann Reed.

Matt's presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May his memory bring comfort to those who mourn his passing and inspiration to those who carry forward the joy he so freely gave.

A Celebration of Life will be held on June 21, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Webberville Park 2305 Park Ln, Webberville, TX 78621 .

In the spirit of Matt this will be an outdoor celebration so feel free to dress casually. Please bring a lawn chair as seating will be limited.
