Richard Booth Sr Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 22, 2025.
Richard E. Booth, Sr., 86, of Nokomis, FL, formerly of Rhode Island, passed away peacefully at home after a brief illness. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Debbie (Burnham), his son, Richard, Jr. (Jeanette), his daughter, Bonnie (Richard), and four grandchildren: Abigail, Emily, Libby, and Ryan.

Dick, as he was known, graduated from Classical High School and the University of Rhode Island where he joined the SAE fraternity. After graduation, he began his career in the US Army before joining the Aetna Insurance Company as a field representative. He went on to start Professional Insurance, a local agency serving the community, before retiring and moving to FL.

Following his retirement, he engaged in various activities, including delivering flowers, volunteering at The Pelican Man Bird Sanctuary and the Van Wezel Theatre, and serving as a docent at the Mote Marine Aquarium for over 15 years. He was also a volunteer Guardian Ad Litem for the Twelfth Circuit Court in Sarasota, FL. He was an avid cribbage player and loved playing poker with his friends. He was a lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox and was seldom seen without his distinctive Red Sox baseball cap.

A gathering to celebrate his life will be held in July in Nokomis, FL, and he will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at the RI Veterans Cemetery.
