Roger Fewell Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 6, 2025.
Roger passed away on 6/5/2025 unexpectedly. He was born to Albert and Jessie Fewell on March 13, 1947 in Long Beach, CA. He grew up in Santa Ana, CA and graduated from Santa Ana High School in 1965. After high school he joined the carpenters union, following in the footsteps of his father. He met his wife, Karla, in 1967 and they married on January 6, 1968. They settled in Anaheim, CA to raise their two children.

Roger worked in the carpenters union, building water and sewage treatment plants all over Southern California. In fact, there wasn't anything that he couldn't build. If you needed a special project, he would build it.

He retired in 2000 and he and Karla moved to Salt Lake City, Utah where he could enjoy his true passions of shooting guns, hunting and fishing. He loved camping and being in the outdoors away from people. He had impeccable aim and out shot anyone that was fortunate enough to see him in his element.

He loved his family and friends and enjoyed spending time with them when he would travel back to California to visit. He liked to BBQ and everyone always requested that he make ribs. He loved his Coors beer. He was a quiet man, more of an observer, but once he loosened up he was so funny and he had the best stories to tell. Everybody loved Roger, despite his sometimes grumpy demeanor.

We called him the dog whisperer. He never met a dog he didn't like and the dogs all loved him. He loved his four "girls", Stevie, Joey, Presley and Lola so much. They brought him so much happiness.

Roger is survived by his daughter Lori and her fiancé Cort Welsh, son Clay Fewell and his six grandchildren, Trevin, Bailey, Chet, Jacob, Ashley and Sierra.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Karla, parents Al and Jessie and brother Keith.

There are no words to describe the tremendous loss his family is suffering through. Roger left an indelible footprint on this world that will never be filled.

Dad, I still can't believe that you are gone. You were my everything. I'm not sure how I am going to navigate this life without you. I miss you so much but I love you more than anyone could love you. We are bonded like no other. My heart is broken and will never be healed. I am living minute by minute because the pain is beyond measure. Thank you for loving me unconditionally and for being the most amazing man. Everyone that knows you is suffering because you were just so special. Definitely one of a kind. I love you to the moon and back.
