Charles J. Wright Jr.

Charles J. Wright Jr. (KG8IG) age 88 formerly of Braceville passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Thursday night March 20, 2025 at his daughters' residence. He was born on August 22, 1936 in Hazleton, PA the son of the late Chas Wright and Margaret (Fatula) Wright. He had lived in Akron for the last 3 years, formerly of Braceville where he graduated from Newton Falls High School in the Class of 1954. After high school, he served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War from 1958-1962. Charles married the love of his life, Barbara A. Radik on June 19, 1965 and they enjoyed 36 years of marriage together until her passing on July 28, 2001. He worked as a steelworker for Copperweld Steel for 44 years retiring in 1998. Charles loved traveling, RVing, amateur ham radio operator, doing puzzles, watching movies, flying RC model airplanes, going to flea markets, playing the piano, keyboard, organ, & accordion. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus #3350 in Newton Falls, Bazetta Flying Arrows RC Club, Warren Amateur Ham Radio Club, and the St. Michael's Byzantine Church (Holy Name Society). Charles is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Barbara, and 1 grandson: Joseph Wright. He is survived by: 1 daughter: Margaret Bartholomew of Cuyahoga Falls, OH, 1 son: Thomas & Rebecca Wright of Columbus, OH, and 3 step grandchildren: Teddy, Tommy, and Sammy Swift. Funeral services will be at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls on Tuesday March 25, 2025 at 7:00pm with Pastor Jennifer Dorn officiating. Calling hours will be from 5:00- 7:00pm. He will be laid to rest beside his wife Barbara at St. Michael's Cemetery in Newton Falls.
