Artemio "Art" Gonzalez passed away on April 27, 2025, in Houston, Texas, at the age of 54. Born on January 26, 1971, in Monterrey, Mexico, but raised in Houston, Texas, Art made a lasting impact on those who knew him.
Art attended Milby High School in Houston, where he began laying the foundation for a life defined by hard work and resilience. He went on to build a career as a welder and was a proud member of the Texas Iron Workers. His commitment to his trade reflected not only skill but also a deep sense of pride in contributing to the structures and communities around him.
Outside of work, Art was known for his passionate support of Texas sports teams. A devoted Texans fan, he rarely missed a game and brought an infectious enthusiasm to every season. His love for sports extended beyond football-he followed all Texas teams with equal fervor. Whether cheering from the stands or watching from home, Art's spirit was always in the game.
Art also found joy and peace in nature. Fishing was one of his favorite pastimes-a way to relax and connect with the world around him. In quieter moments, he expressed himself through drawing and painting, channeling creativity into works that reflected both imagination and heart.
A wake will be held in Art's honor on Saturday, May 3, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Morales Funeral Home, located at 2901 Canal St., Houston, TX 77003. Friends and loved ones are invited to gather in remembrance and celebration of Art's life.
May his memory bring comfort to those who knew them.
Art is preceded in death by his Brother, Sergio Gonzalez.
He is survived by his beloved family which includes his Father, Artemio Gonzalez, Sr.; Mother, Magdalena Gonzalez; Brothers, Juan (John) Gonzalez, Edward Gonzalez; Brother-In-Law, Louis Salazar, Nephews, Julien Gonzalez, Ian Salazar; Nieces, Avery Gonzalez, Annie Salazar.

My buddy Art ... over the weekend, everyone came together in unity to say goodbye and begin a new phase of their lives as we accepted your demise in both spirit and memory. Over the years, I've reached out and asked John and Edward how you were doing from time to time, and I regret not taking the time to visit personally. I vividly remember you coming to my apartment way back in the day, helping me pack as I was relocating to Manhattan. It was a sad time for me, but you managed to bring smiles to my face with your natural humor which always made you so uniquely approachable. You were a devoted son and brother, you always managed to make everyone laugh with that fantastic and great personality. The dedication you provided to your family will never be forgotten, as they were all very proud of you, as well as myself. Shine down on your lovely parents and brothers, they will still need you as you will forever be missed by them and all who knew you. Life as we all knew it will never be the same, and I know your family's heart is so heavy, and will miss you beyond words. I'm sure you will enjoy your time in heaven with your baby brother Sergio, and all who have gone before you and all who have gone to join you. I feel and love you my friend, even from the clouds below here in sunny southern California, and it comforts me. May the Lord, mighty God, bless and keep you forever...
