Barbara Lynn Land, nee French, of Cuba, MO, was born on Tuesday, May 5, 1964, in St. Louis, MO to William Earl French, Sr. and Geraldine Beatrice French, nee Bridgett. She passed away at Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan, MO, on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at the age of 60 years, 9 months and 6 days.
Barbara grew up in St. Louis, MO and attended Adams High School. She married James "Jimmy" Howard Land, Jr., and to this union they had two children, Brandon and Kandace. They moved to Steelville, MO, to raise their family. Barbara worked in the restaurant business most of her life, waitressing and cooking at places such as The Viking in St. Louis, Spare Rib Inn and Indian Springs both in Steelville, MO. She was a great cook and could make something out of nothing. She enjoyed sewing, crafts and music, especially records. Most of all, Barbara loved her children and granddaughters and time spent with family. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Sr. and Geraldine French; siblings, William French, Jr. (wife Virginia), John French, Kathy French and Robert French.
Barbara is survived by her children, Brandon French (Malea Al-Jurany) of Cuba, MO and Kandace Brewer (husband Calem) of Steelville, MO; granddaughters, Haleigh and Layla Brewer; special friend, William "Bill" Smith of Cuba, MO; siblings, Karen Sheppard (husband Joe) of Silva, MO and George French (wife Helen) of Imperial, MO; sister-in-law, Bertha French of DeSoto, MO; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation is from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM on Monday, March 3, 2025, at Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville, MO. Celebration of Life will immediately follow at 7:00 PM with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating. The family chose cremation as her final disposition.
