Billy Joe Nelson, age 72, a resident of Horatio, Arkansas, passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at Nashville Nursing and Rehab.
He was born August 23, 1952, in De Queen, Arkansas. He was a member of Masonic Zavala Lodge and a 32nd Degree Mason.
He worked in the oil fields for over 40 years and was a Baptist. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and cooking.
Mr. Nelson was preceded in death by his parents, Billy Nelson and Francis John Nelson Pitts; two brothers, Joe Nelson and James Nelson; and one sister, Teri Nelson.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Kenny and Sabrina Nelson of Krum, Texas; Jeff and Kristy Nelson of Winthrop, Arkansas, and two daughters and son-in-law, Shelia Nelson of Krum, Texas, and Amie and Steve Mayes of Saint Thomas Island, in the Caribbean; grandchildren, Shaela Nelson, Trent Nelson, Tyler Lanier, Wyatt Nelson, Rileigh Nelson, Raigan Thompson and fiancé, Dusty Young, Morgan and husband, Russell Tessman, Jason Lee, Jaci Lee, and Caleb Gosnell; great grandchildren, Witt Nelson, Carson Nelson, Wyatt Tessman, Royce Tessman, Stella Tessman, David Lee, Caius Gosnell, Cyrus Gosnell and one brother, Jerry Nelson of Winthrop, Arkansas.
Graveside funeral services for Mr. Nelson will be held at 3:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at Blackland Cemetery Pavilion in Foreman, AR, with Audie Dawson officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
