Billy Eugene Nelson, 82, of Huntsville; went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. He was born Tuesday, March 2, 1943, in Haskell, Texas; to James L and Inez Shaw Nelson.
Billy married Donnella Horton on Saturday, June 26, 1965, in Springdale, Arkansas. They celebrated 60 wonderful years together and cherished their roles as loving parents to two children, Avery and Veneita. A dedicated member of the Huntsville Freewill Baptist Church, Billy retired from APAC and took great joy in farming. His warm smile and passion for singing hymns were well-known among his community. Billy's deep love for his family and faith in the Lord were central to his life.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents, James and Inez Nelson; four brothers, James Nelson, Jimmy Nelson, Alvin Nelson, and Tommy Nelson; and one sister, Dorthy Alhstedt. He is survived by his wife, Donnella Nelson of the home; one daughter, Veneita Nelson of Huntsville; and one son and daughter-in-law, Avery and Melissa Nelson of Hindsville. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Brandon (Molly) Nelson, Trisha Nelson (Kenny), Mitchell (Gracie) Nelson, Britney (Tyler) Blann; six great-grandchildren, Billy Charles Nelson, Emma Jayne Nelson, Raven Inez Blalock, Cade Avery Crenshaw, Easton Blann, and Dax Archer Blann; one sister, Carrol Charlene Arbaugh of New Camey, Texas; one sister-in-law, Nancy Nelson of Lake Dallas, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 1:00 PM-2:00 PM, Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Brashears Funeral Home. Funeral Service will immediately follow at 2:00 PM with Jason Scott, Max Bowlin, and Roy Haffelder officiating. Pallbearers will be Tim Nelson, Rick Nelson, Mike Haney, Dennis Waters, Brent Gurley, and Kevin Donahue. Honorary pallbearers will be Brandon Nelson, Mitchell Nelson, and Billy Charles Nelson. Interment will immediately follow services at Bohannan Mountain Cemetery, Huntsville. Services are entrusted to Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory of Huntsville.
