After a life of great love and kindness, our beloved mother and grandmother Brenda Grace (Carroll) Adams passed away at home and went straight to heaven on July 20, 2025. Our sadness and loss is immeasurable.
Brenda was born to Lawrence Robert Carroll and Ruth Dorothy Karl in Irvington, New Jersey on June 22, 1944 and grew up in Pompton Plains, New Jersey with her siblings, Ruthann (Carroll) Walsh, Bobby Carroll (deceased), Susan (Carroll) Smith (deceased) and Jayne (Carroll) Garcia.
Brenda raised her daughters, Denise Bauer and Patricia (Patty) Bauer in Pompton Plains with her first husband Kenneth Bauer. Denise, her husband Noel Russ and Patty will be forever grateful for Brenda's amazingly positive spirit, unflagging support, and unconditional love.
Brenda was a devoted wife to her knight in shining armor, Michael Kent Adams and his children and their spouses, Lauren and David McQueeney and Christoper and Christie Adams. Brenda and Michael joined their families together on October 7, 1989, and created a beautiful home in Vernon, New Jersey which became the place everyone gathered. For countless years Brenda and Michael made Christmas an incredibly special and memorable occasion for the entire family.
Brenda worked for 30+ years in successive positions in computer administration at ADP (Automatic Data Processing) where she was rewarded for her bright mind, excellent work ethic and collegial spirit. She also worked at First Brands in customer service and many years ago was a waitress at Sterns Department Store.
In her later years, Brenda was a legendary grandmother, a role that she especially cherished. Her grandchildren adored her and were deeply impressed with her unconditional love: Marygrace Bauer and her husband, Kyle Smith, Thomas Bauer, Evan Bauer, Ellyn McQueeney, Zachary McQueeney, Sabrina Adams, and Therese Adams. She was also a caring aunt to many nieces and nephews. Brenda's courageously loving heart beats on in this younger generation and gives us hope for a better world.
There will be a wake for Brenda on Friday, July 25th from 4pm-7:30pm at Scanlan's Funeral Home followed by a repass to which everyone is invited. Details will be available at the wake. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Brenda, please visit our floral store.
