Brenda was born March 24th, 1956 to Joe and Frances Risner in McKinney, TX. She slipped into the arms of Jesus on April 18th, 2025 with her family by her side after long battle of colon cancer at her home in Denison, TX. She married the love her of her life, Ron Smith, on December 8, 1992. She was employed by Calera ISD for the past 12 years.
Brenda was a woman of strong faith and loved everyone she met. She loved being a wife, mom and Grannie. She would adopt anyone into the family she met. As a child she spent lots of time with family and loved playing softball even into adult years. When she started having children of her own she embraced the title of mom so well. She loved spending time with her family; whether it was going to car shows, playing skip-bo, going Hot Wheel hunting, gambling at the casino, attending family reunions, being the Grand Marshal at her Mardi Gras Parade or even having Sunday dinner at her home. She was a natural caregiver, she always made sure everyone was taken care of even when she was not well herself. She loved the Lord immensely, anyone around her could feel the presence of the Lord. In 2001 Brenda and her husband, Ron, started Disciples of Faith Biker Ministry, ministering to those others wouldn't. They would have bible study every Tuesday night and serve a warm meal, including her world famous banana pudding.
Brenda is survived by her husband of 32 years, Ron Smith of Denison, TX. She is also survived by her children; Scottie Moody (Sarah) of Denison, TX, Alysha Haskins of Denison, TX, Travis Wadley (Kelsey) of Odessa, TX, Colby Wadley (Rachel) of Ambrose, TX, Bridgitt Fletcher of Sherman, TX, Tiffany Kemp (Jackie) of Denison, TX, Jamie Geisler (Andrew) of Denison, TX, Ronnie Smith Jr (Cecily) of San Diego, CA and "adopted" son Travis Purcell of Valley View, TX and her beloved 23 grandchildren. She also leaves behind a multitude of family and friends that became family to her; including her co-workers who knew her as Aunt Brenda.
Services will be as follows: Visitation is Tuesday April 22nd from 5-7 pm Fisher Funeral Home 604 W Main St. Denison, TX 75020. Funeral is Wednesday April 23rd at 11 am Trinity Lighthouse Church 2915 Spur 503 Denison, TX 75020.
