Carl H. Bahr III, age 89, of Randolph, NJ, passed away peacefully on July 3rd, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Bahr was born on March 1st, 1936, in Dover, NJ to Carl H. Bahr Jr. and Lena V. Bahr (nee Santangelo). He graduated from Dover High School in 1953, after which he joined the U.S. Navy, serving on the U.S.S. Roanoke during the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge in 1957, he married his high school sweetheart, Dorothy E. Steger. They settled in Randolph, NJ, where they raised five children and shared sixty-two years of happy marriage.
He enjoyed a dedicated 45-year career as a butcher with the Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company, retiring in 2003. In his downtime, he mastered many hobbies, including gardening, carpentry, and baking. Family and friends fondly remember his homemade apple pies, zucchini bread, and pickles as well as his beautiful flowers and impressive pumpkin patch. He was also a lifelong, active member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Dover, NJ.
Mr. Bahr is survived by his children: Scott (and Angel) Bahr of Punta Gorda, FL; Chris Ann Bahr of Randolph, NJ; Caryn (and Patrick) Moran of Mount Olive, NJ; and Colleen Bahr of Mount Olive, NJ. Son-in-law: G. Thomas Neely II of Randolph, NJ. Grandchildren: Michelle, Scott, Joseph, Lisa, Meghan, Courtney, Jennifer, Michael, Gerald, Charles, Maxwell, and Elizabeth. Great-grandchildren: Aleksander, Ariella, and Michael. Sister: Martha Johann of Highlands Ranch, CO and many nieces and nephews. All were dear to him.
He will be remembered alongside his beloved wife Dorothy, daughter Bonnie Neely, and sisters Carolyn Treier and Margaret West who predeceased him.
A wake will be held at Tuttle's Funeral Home in Randolph, NJ, on July 9th, 2025 from 4 to 8pm. A service celebrating Carl's life will take place at St. John's Episcopal Church in Dover, NJ, on July 10th, 2025 at 11am followed by entombment at Locust Hill Cemetery Mausoleum in Dover, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Mr. Bahr's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN, or to St. John's Episcopal Church in Dover, NJ.
