Catharine A Mooney

Catharine Nash Mooney, 63, of Brick, NJ, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2025, after a courageous two-year battle with cancer. Born on April 6, 1962, in Newark, NJ, Catharine, affectionately known as Cathi, was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, aunt, and friend whose kindness and hospitality left a lasting impact on everyone she met.
She graduated from Roselle Park High School in 1980. She began her career at Colonial Savings in Roselle Park, NJ, where she worked for two years before joining the law firm of Zazzali, Zazzali and Kroll in Newark, NJ. Her professional journey took a joyful turn when she became a mother. Her children, Shannon Anne and James Peter, were her greatest pride.
Cathi was an exceptional cook and baker. Her home was always open to friends and family, where her hospitality and warm spirit made everyone feel welcome. Her kindness extended beyond her family as she was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.
Predeceased by her mother, Mary Curran Nash, Cathi is survived by her father, Peter J. Nash and his wife, Ellen, and her siblings: Her twin Patricia Ryan and husband Tony; Maureen Jobes and husband Thomas; Marybeth Nash, and Robert Nash and wife Denise, and many nieces and nephews. Her legacy lives on through her daughter, Shannon Mooney and fiancé, Kevin Kempton, and her son, James Peter Mooney and wife, Katie, and her grandsons, James Robert and Joseph Ryan Mooney.
Cathi's journey was supported by her devoted sister, Marybeth, who became her guardian angel during her illness. The love and care shared between them provided comfort and strength through the challenging times.
Cathi's gentle soul and unwavering kindness will be deeply missed, but her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know her. May the angels guide her to paradise and may she rest in eternal peace.
Arrangements are under the care of Orender Family Home for Funerals, Manasquan, NJ. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Cathi's life at a Memorial Mass held at St. Dominic Church, 250 Old Squan Road, Brick, NJ, on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at 10:00 am.
