Angels cause no harm.
They can be shy and seem naive when they are just quietly observant. On the watch for those that they can help and care for.
This angel, Colleen Joyce Mettler Moore began her time among us on June 20, 1957.
Her early childhood was spent in north Columbus. The balance of her teens and adulthood in Delaware County.
She picked her lifelong partner in the Spring of 1975, and they married at St. Mary Church on May 12, 1979, making Steve Moore the luckiest of all mortals.
Together they raised two sons, Caleb and Curtis. She was never seen hovering, but rather teaching them the basics of life, love and respect for all living things. They did not always have what they wanted. She made sure they always had what they needed. Physically and emotionally with an abundance of love. She spread that love to her two daughters-in-law, Amber and Merideth. And unquestionably strong is her love for her two grandsons Oliver and Gavin.
She held a special place in her heart for all the pets blessed to be in her care. Including the livestock she was warned not to give names to. She cherished all wildlife and gave names to a handful of those too.
Along with her career as Mom, she took on a handful of second jobs early on. Landing on a 35-year second career beside her husband Steve tending to their family sign company until her recent retirement. At the same time helping to take care of the homes of several ladies that became lifelong friends.
This angel returned to Heaven on the last day of February 2025.
Her new path follows her parents Richard and Ruth Mettler along with her sister Sandy, brother-in-law Larry Carter, father-in-law John Moore, sister-in-law Maria Howard, and brother-in-law Dave Moore.
Those to follow her: Steve, Caleb, Amber, Gavin, Curtis, Meridith, and Oliver; mother-in-law, Phyllis Moore; sister, Debbie and husband Mike Burton; brother, Mark; brother-in-law, Tom (Carla) Moore; sister-in-law, Ellen Moore; brother-in-law Bernie Howard; several nieces, nephews, and an abundance of friends, and above all, her best friend and fellow angel, Terry Pasqualone aka Aunt T.
Special thanks go out to all the staff of Ohio's Hospice Loving Care who were superior in their attendance to her needs. Especially, Jennifer who held her with Steve at the moment she left us.
In accordance with her wishes, Colleen is to be cremated and with intentions of having a private friends and family celebration of life.
In lieu of flowers, please make any donations to Ohio's Hospice Loving Care, 2269 Cherry Valley Rd., Newark, OH 43055 or the Delaware County Humane Society, 4920 OH-37, Delaware, OH 43015.
