With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Cynthia Ann Holland Riewe, born on July 14, 1944, in Galveston, Texas. Cynthia passed away peacefully at her home in
San Antonio, Texas, surrounded by love and family. She is survived by her spouse of 60 years, Roy Riewe, who was captivated by her from their first blind date and stood by her side throughout their loving marriage.
Cynthia's journey was marked by remarkable achievements and profound love. She earned her B.S. in Pharmacy in 1966 from the University of Texas at Austin, one of only three women in her class. Her dedication to pharmacy was inspired by her father and both her maternal and paternal grandfathers. Cynthia served in hospital, retail, and pediatric center practices across Texas and Mississippi, touching countless lives with her expertise and compassion.
Cynthia's heart was as vast as her talents. Musically gifted, she played the accordion, piano, organ, and handbells, and her voice graced church choirs. Her love for nature was evident in her beautiful gardens, earning her three Yard of the Month awards in Padre Isles. Cynthia found joy in cooking, sewing, traveling, and hiking, especially in the Rocky Mountains, a place that held special memories for her family.
Her community involvement was a testament to her generous spirit. Cynthia participated in Walk to Emmaus teams, mission trips to Nuevo Progresso, and sponsored women in Al-Anon. She served as a Cub Scout Den Mother for her two sons and co-directed Cub Scout Summer Camp, always eager to support and nurture those around her.
Cynthia's life was a beacon of kindness, service, and dedication. During her senior year of high school in Galveston, when her mother was bedridden, Cynthia took on the responsibility of grocery shopping and cooking for her family, embodying the proverbial qualities of a virtuous woman.
Cynthia was preceded in death by her parents, Owen Webster Holland, Jr. and Mable Dorothy Burr Holland, her grandson, Kiel Corbin Graves, and her brothers-in-law, Charles Perry and Patrick Holden.
She leaves behind her devoted spouse, Roy Riewe; sons, Mark Riewe and Kurt Riewe (Rachel) and his family, grandchildren, Jordan, Jake, and Austin Riewe; brother, Bryan Holland (Carolyn) and his family, nieces Susan Holland Heller (Howard) and Cathy Holland Siller (Terry); sister, Karen Holland Perry and her daughter, niece Kimberly Perry; sister, Sarah Holland Holden and her family, nephew Carlos Holden, and nieces Kathleen Holden Kirk (Wayne) and Rachael Holden Luna (former husband Chris); sister-in-law, Robin Riewe Thalheimer (Jonathan) and her family, Meyer Thalheimer and Ezra Thalheimer; and sister-in-law Carol Riewe (Juanita); and numerous grand nieces and nephews. Her passing is mourned deeply by her extended family and many friends.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to her compassionate caregivers, Kelly Turner and Kathy Moore, who provided unwavering support.
