Athol, MA – It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of David William Marshall, 60, on January 31, 2025.

He attended Ralph C Mahar Regional High School in Orange, MA. In 1985 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served 20 years as a Corpsman. While in the service he particularly enjoyed his time spent in Rota, Spain. Following his military retirement in 2005, he went on to earn his RN degree from Mt. Wachusett Community College in Gardner, MA. He then worked for several years at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA. He also assisted in the care of his late stepfather, Vito Maselli.

David was a man whose life was a testament to the qualities of generosity, loyalty, and humility. He was very kind-hearted. He spent his life in service to others in his career and his personal life.

He had an insatiable thirst for knowledge. His particular interests were in history, astronomy, and sciences. He also enjoyed watching soccer games.

He leaves behind his mother, Maureen (Kiely, Marshall) Maselli of Athol, his brother, Daniel Marshall of Lebanon, NH; his maternal aunts, Jeanne-Marie Kiely of Hanson, MA; Christine (Kiely) Bean of Whitman, MA; Kathleen (Kiely) Jaques (husband, Peter) of St. Augustine, FL. He also leaves a step-sister, Karen Maselli of Orange, MA (her children, Kelly Sevigny and sons; and Kyle Dorow all of Athol, MA). He also leaves his girlfriend, Amanda Marion of Athol, MA, and his cat, Luciana.

David was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, John and Rita (Murphy) Kiely; his father; Richard W. Marshall; stepfather, Vito Maselli; maternal uncles, John Kiely Jr. and Leroy Bean.

David’s calling hours will be held at Mack Funeral Home, Athol/Orange chapel,110 New Athol Road, Orange on Monday, February 10, 2025 from 11:00AM to 12:00PM followed by his funeral service with Pastor Judy Jones of the South Athol and Orange United Methodist Churches officiating. 

The burial will follow at Silver Lake Cemetery, Silver Lake Street, Athol with military honors present.
