David Michael Vest

David Michael Vest, age 76, of Hillsboro, passed away Thursday, May 15, 2025 at his home. He was born the son of the late David Wendell Vest and Mary Emma Brown Vest Miller on October 28, 1948 in Cincinnati. With deep sadness we say goodbye to a simple and genuine soul who loved speed, engines, the outdoors, and most importantly his family. Whether behind the wheel at a drag race, under the hood building motors, or at the gun range he approached everything with precision and heart. He also had a love for jet planes and the boundless wonder of space, always gazing skyward with curiosity and awe. Despite a love for speed and firepower, David had a deeply grounded connection to nature. Trees were a special comfort for David and he always grieved the loss of a tree. A devoted animal lover, David shared many joyful days with his beloved dogs, Pumpkin and Zeus. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Trennepohl Vest; daughter, Angela Vest Norton of Hillsboro; grandsons, Jospeh Michael Norton, Andrew Charles Norton, David Dudley Norton, and Nicholas William Norton; and sisters, Lynn, Sharon, and Martha Vest. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step father, William "Bill" Miller. In keeping with his wishes, services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
